"Abusing" Marijuana?

Discussion in 'Beginner Cannabis Consumption & Tips' started by starsagepuffin, Aug 31, 2012.

  1. One thing confuses me about public opinions towards marijuana, i keep seeing people saying that marijuana has a high potential for abuse.

How can you abuse marijuana exactly?

When i think of someone abusing a drug i see a boy in high school snorting pills with his friends. That is how you abuse a drug.

    With weed you can:

    A. Smoke it.
    B. Eat it.
    C. Vape it.

All of which are proper means of consuming it. So how exactly can you abuse it? Especially considering that the high we get from it is something of a primary function.

  2. Well then you're being stupid. If I bombed coke every day then I'd basically be eating it, so that's not abuse right? Method of ingestion has nothing to do with it, you're abusing it when you develop an unhealthy relationship with it that starts causing you harm.

  3. I don't think it's abuse in terms of the method as much as frequency and prioritisation, in relation to "too much" and "too often" though really, I think that's person to person anyway - of course there are bad examples that validate this line of thinking, but I think that it's more towards the minority.
Of course, you can sit at home and get stoned and be happy every day of your life, not causing anyone any grief or harm like alcohol and tobacco might (yes, the two legal examples I'm sure every marijuana user will think of), but by the view of the kind of people that come up with this stuff, then you're an "abuser" because you're not being "productive to society" as they see it.

    Just my take.

  4. I think when people use the term "abuse" when reference to taking a substance it doesn't mean the manner in which you use the substance, but the frequency with which you use it. For someone to say another is "abusing" marijuana might mean that the person uses marijuana excessively like all day everyday, an is never not high. Just like when people say someone abuses alcohol...its not about how they're consuming it, it's that they drink way too damn much.

    No need for hostility man.

  6. This person knows what they're talking about.

In my opinion it's really only abuse when it starts to control your life. Like how I see some of my friends sell their expensive things just to get more weed. When it outweighs your "sober" or non-weed life, I believe things are getting outta hand.

  7. smoking is not a proper form of ingestion actually its pretty unhealthy

  8. @euphorik, Yes, I agree %100 with you. You see, as a disciple of Christ I am aware through the scripture that "...everything is permissible, but not everything is beneficial...", so therefore my opinion on the matter is that even if something is not harmful (like cannabis) and it's used all the time, if it controls your thoughts and purpose all the time, then you are abusing it. This can happen with anything, food, work, pleasures, etc.

  9. Id call abuse when your at the point you smoke because you hate being sober.

  10. smoking everyday i wouldn't call abusing marijuana as long as it's not getting in the way of school/work and goals/priorites in your life, but sadly people still see that as abuse to marijuana.
