Absolute Noob Has Questions

Discussion in 'Beginner Cannabis Consumption & Tips' started by Saulisa, Jun 17, 2014.

  1. I got my card in early Feb this year and have been smoking daily since.

I smoke for depression and anxiety and it has turned my life around. I even have a job now!

I know almost no jargon (I'm 54 years old), so I hope you'll be patient with me. Here are my questions:

    1. When filling a bubbler, is it better to use a big, single bud or to use ground weed?
    2. How much more expensive are vaporizers and what is the high like? (I've used weed and edibles)
    3. Does making your own edibles and/or liquids (for ecigs) save money?
    4. Does it take a lot of time?
    5. Does it stink up the house?
    6. What happens if you eat dry, uncooked, unburned weed?
    7. Is the ecig a real hope for legal public use that won't expose others to the effects?

Here are my ultimate goals as I learn more about usage:

To obey all laws (I'm in LA, CA)
To get the most for my money
To dose in public with an immediate effect (right now, I'm using edibles, which take time)
To minimize smell and prep time

Any advice anyone has to offer will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!
    Saulisa

  2. 1. Ground weed is always the best as it increases surface area.
    2. A good, sturdy one will cost you around $200-300. The high is different in the sense that it's more 'energetic' and it leaves you feeling less tired than smoking a bowl would. Another great thing about vaporizers is they don't produce the tar like smoking does
3.A definite no for this one. I rarely make edibles because of the time it takes + $$$
4.Yes, a full day at least for it to be done properly.
    5.It can
    6. Nothing, although Tommy Chong swears if you eat an upwards of an ounce at once you'll get a buzz
    7. I believe so. When legalization finally arrives it'll be interesting to see what kind of laws they introduce re: public smoking and how that'll pertain to ecigs and portable vaporizers.

    1. Ground, use a herb grinder, you can get cheap ones on amazon.
    2. You can get a decent vaporizer for the same price of a decent bubbler. I would look into gotvape.com
    3. Yes*, although idk about e-cig juice as i have never tried that (* i use already vaped weed for edibles though).
    4. It takes me about an hour to make a cup of super potent canna-cooking-oil.
    5. Yes it will stink up the house, i do it outside on the stove built into our grill.
    6. Not much, you need it to be bound to the fat in the oil/butter for it to have much effect.
    7. I can't say about this question since they don't have cannabis e-cigs here, but if they are like vaping pens then I doubt it since you can clearly smell it is marijuana.

  4. Regarding the ecig questions, if you want a small pen vaporizer for on the go/public use, get one that vaporizes BHO, like a Cloud Pen or something similar.

  5. 1. Some would say this is preference but I believe ground weed is usually the best option for many forms of smoking because it burns better and more efficiently (Someone elaborate please)

    2. Vaporizers can range in price and you can get a good one for under $100. The high isn't too different from a normal high and after you vape the weed you can still smoke the leftover weed. May sound weird but it works. The plus side of using a vaporizer is it eliminates a large amount of smell but still leaves this weird smell just from the vape smoke but it isn't nearly as smelly as weed. Also it's better for your lungs.

    3. Making edibles with dank bud isn't cost effective. But if you use cheap, low quality bud, you may be able to make the cost ratio more effective. You'd have to do math to figure this out for yourself depending on the weed you're getting and other stuff. Someone will elaborate on this more probably. I'm not sure about the liquids part.

    4. Edibles take as much time as the cookies/brownies/whatever you're cooking take to normally cook plus a little extra to make the cannabutter/oil

    5. Unfortunately, making edibles is very smelly.

    6. Eating uncooked weed is pointless. Lots of people claim you can get high off doing so but its very unlikely and not worth it. You'd have to eat a few grams and then you'd MAYBE get some effects but otherwise just smoke it or cook it. This has to do with THC or some shit being only activated by heat and the heat from your stomach usually isnt enough to activate it.

    7. Not sure at all about this question so I can't answer.

Answered these to the best of my knowledge, hope I could help.

For the vaporizer question, it gives you a really clear head high. You could have a vape session and go to work and be fine. However, to me, the high isn't near as good as a bong high. Personally, with a vape it just made me spacey and have super deep thoughts, but its great if I wanna gef a session in before work or really anything. However, with the bong, I can just get baked, it helps me escape.

But if you really wanna save money, then I'd buy a vape. I've got a volcano vaporizer, and it seriously never burns any bud.
