As the title states - newbie at this and growing.

Thought I'd log from the start - germinating the seeds (White WidowxBig Bud from 'www.femaleseeds.nl') hang-in there it will get more interesting!

While waiting for the seeds to do their thing - thought I'd go through Grow Room set-up.

Room has been set-up in a small bedroom utilising a Secret Jardin DR80. I've run the lights in the DR and checked external temps - only a couple of degrees difference. Have to be careful as Police use Thermal Imaging to spot Heat Blooms - usual giveaway for those naughty people growing illegal herbs!

I have two propagators - one heated, which has the seeds in at the mo, and an unheated propagator which I'll use in the Summer as room is South facing.

I'm going to grow in 4 Pot Wilma system using drip/dribblers, Coco Mix from BioBizz and Canadianxpress nutrients - hopefully using the ScroG method.

Lighting: 125W CFL and 400W HPS.

I've set-up a Carbon Filter extraction system and also have a small fan for air movement, etc.

The reflector is suspended using easy-rollers with chubb padlock on front to add sufficient weight for them to work properly!

Think that's it for now - if anyone has a daily log design to record temps, Humidity, pH, etc. I'd appreciate it.

First seed germinated, popped into soil plug and first set of leaves appeared this morning. So now transferred to grow tent in propagator, under CFL.

  4. looking very nice. i have a dr 80 but i use it to look after my mothers. As far as temps go. The police only spot high temps in lofts. Keep the heater off in that room and the other rooms in your house on. this way it will give the impression its just your heater doing its job.

My set up cools x2 600w hps lamps i run this from the loft into the lights in the grow room, back up into the loft then back down into a spare bedroom. This heats the spare bedroom nicley... its normaly people who have uncooled high powerd and high numbers of lights in a loft who get caught out via heat, Then those people eho are stupid enough to show all there friends and deal from the place they grow that usualy get caught.

Your grow looks good so far.. Im a soil/hydro grower and have been for about 8 years and never been caught (touch wood) prevention is better than cure.

Il be back to keep and eye out.

P.s those root riot cubes dry out soooo fast keep them moist..

    Peace

  5. Thanks for that Sticky, keeping an eye on the plugs to make sure they don't dry out.

First plant has perked up quite nicely - just hoping the others germinate too...

OK, Day 5 and I've moved seedling into irrigated pots - as plug was showing signs of drying out. Ungerminated seeds back into heated propagator to see if they do any thing with heat under them!

Apologies if photos a little out of focus - still trying to get a hand on camera's macro setting.

The dripper's set for 2x15min a day at the mo, though I'll keep an eye on them and increase as necessary. CFL set on 18/6, small fan on all the time and extractor on every other hour for an hour. Don't intend to add any nutes until week 2 or 3 starting off with approx. 25% recommended dose.

If the other seeds don't do anything - I'll let spare drippers feed back into the reservoir - no point feeding nutes to soil!

  9. Sounds perfect bruv. What amount of water is coming out of the lines each day. Best way to tell is put one of the lines into a measuering jug and see whats what only saying because it may be too much as the soil maybie getting soggy in the bottoms of the pts which can cause you problems.. I usualy water plants as young as yours about 50m of water 2 times a day with additinal hand spraying!! i usualy ajust the amount by 50 mills each week untill im at 250mm twice aday every other day, Once the plants get huge over 2 foot i used to give a liter a day each plant and they loved it.... Just an idea!! peace :smoke:

Thanks for that - I'll check flows tomorrow.

Each 15 min session is delivering 150ml - so I've reduced to one session a day for now.

  16. Day 10:

Seedling first proper leaves coming on nicely - though I've noticed a little blemish on one which I'll keep an eye on. Next set of leaves starting to form.

EC/PH meter on its way - I'm going to start introducing nutes later this week! I've also downloaded Grow Assistant to log grows.

    Ungerminated seeds doing nack-all.

  17. Looking nice, shame about the other seeds!! i had a run where i didnt get 1 spout of 40 seeds  shocking really good thing they where cheap.. and this time of 40 i got about 38 so just depends really.. when you say blemish, whats the PH range at?? also with nutes start of reall low as iv only just introduced nutes to mine and they are getting quite large.. Wait untill a slight yellowing of the first true leaves or you will end up giving them burns...:smoke:

  18. Not sure about pH - hence new meter on its way to measure pH & EC, etc.

The blemish is a little brown mark on one of the leaves ( you can see it in third photo). I was going to start nutes off @ quarter strength to begin with and just gradually increase to recommended strengths over next few weeks!

Just tested reservoir for PH and reading indicated @ 7! Which surprised me as I live in a soft water area.

    Added initial nutes today at reduced strengths, re-tested PH now reads 6.5;
EC = 1; ppm = 550. Will monitor readings and adjust pH down a tad tomorrow.

Initial leaves now yellowing and more little blemishes appearing - 'she who must be obeyed' has taken a look and declared: ' needs nutrients!!'.

  20. Plant has now perked-up after introducing nutes, it's a mighty 1.5" tall and second set of leaves coming on nicely.
