Hi guys, just registered an account. A friend of a friend has germinated some seeds in water and paper towel and has planted the germinated seeds in some potting mix that contains slow release fertilizer. My concern is that possibly the seedling may not be able to handle the fertilizer at such a early stage and the plant may be possibly burnt? Other than that, could anyone give me some direction as to when fertilizer would be needed to be given to the plant considering the potting mix contains slow release fertilizer. Thanks
shouldn't need to fertilize untill you see your first signs of deficiency, If you choose to anyways go lightly and slowly fertilize more as goes the grow. Good luck.
Thanks for your help, do you think there is any concern about seedlings being burnt by being put straight into potting mix containing fertiliser? Thanks again.
i have had problems with slow ferts killing off my seedlings in my first grow experiment(it was an experiment based on effort), my new procedure is quality organic potting soil without any chemical ferts, and using seedling starter mix(dr. earth or fox farms happy frog) for my young plants. this grow i went so far as to fill the bottom half of my 3gal pots with FFoF potting mix and the top half with seedling starter mix so as not to burn the plants early on and allow them to grow into the hotter soil. it worked like a charm.
you may you may not. if theyve already sprouted, dont touch them, unless they look like theyre dying. even then, it may be a watering issue. if theyre dying badly, transplant. keep feeding to a minimum throughout the process. i feed once in veg and once in flower what soil are you using?
in chemical form? itll be fine..as long as its not too strong. i suggest pure water for a long while, you got the all in one packing. i have old scotts premium potting soil which is also slow release fertilizer and a wetting agent, but the makeup is only like .07 .05 .05 it also has peat moss and perlite youll notice how nice the wetting agent makes the soil seem. you should do well i also have organic hyponex (garbage) and generic organic potting soil from a local store
sorry .07 - .01 - .03* you should also have a small fan pointed at your lights which should also suffice in training the plants a little with mild wind. you can also tickle them and breath in their space it will also promote growth
