Can I use HPS lights for the entire grow process, veg thru flowering? Or should i get one w/ a switchable MH ? I swear i read somewhere HPS can be used the entire time (would save me some $$). Im looking to start my 1st grow sometime after November, i have to install a larger elec. panel in my house only have 100Amp right now YIKES !!! Im probably going to go w/ 2 small rooms in my basement 5x6 each, one for veg, one for flower. And was going to get some 400w HPS, figuring each will pull 4-5amps. Most likely i'm going to go SOG as the celing is only 5'6" high. So take away space for lights, pots etc, and im really only left w/ 3-4' total.
Yeah HPS will do it all. Not as good as MH for veg but it'll work. OR what you could do is veg under fluorescent light. Works well too.
id suggest a LST grow .... 400 in veg then bud em' with 800.... or like HE said veg under fluro and blast em' w HPS to flower
Floro pretty cheap lights, maybe i'll just do that then. Sounds like a plan... now all i gotta do is upgrade my elec panel from 100amp lol.... whoever built this house... god retarded.
watts / voltage = amps so in your case 400w / 110v = 3.64A each don't forget to take into account the start-up surge of up to 6x the running current 100A is a lot of power m8 - U could weld 1/2" plate with that! I'm uk on 240v, so the amperage of my lights is 1/2 yours. Same equation tho
Yea well the box is full, so i have to put a new one in.. requires a call to the elec co to cut power at the street... plus $250 just to have it turned off/on. Need to have elec friend come over to do the rewiring of new panel.. Im figuring 2-20amp breakers should run what i need.
