Brilliant logic. Go ahead and binge drink too while you're pregnant; the world needs more babies with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome!

Know how they test to see if Mom indulged in drugs during pregnancy? They test the meconium, which is baby's first shit. So whatever garbage you put into your body makes its way into baby, is metabolized, and then comes out as shit, just as if baby had taken it in directly.

But I read on the Internet that it's not been proven to be harmful...

    Congrats!

I'm not a mom so take my advice with a grain of salt, but there are two key pieces of advice I've heard that I've thought made a lot of sense when raising kids.

The first is; know that how you speak to your child may become their inner monologue for the rest of their life. So speak to them how you'd like them to speak to themselves.

The second is; choices. Apparently giving kids a choice can make parenting a lot easier. Instead of "you need to go get dressed now", you make it "do you want to wear the superman shirt or the spiderman shirt?" or whatever, but then they feel like they've actually gotten to choose what they want to do instead of just hearing "go get dressed now!".
Out at the store and your kid wants to buy something? Let them buy one thing, if they want something else then it's "well, you only get one thing so do you want that more than the first thing you picked out?"
Makes parenting a lot easier, so I've heard. But like I said, I'm not a parent. :p

  3. Not all hospitals test the meconium at birth.. The hospital I delivered at never gave me a drug test because where I am from... Some choose to test.. Other choose not.
    It's up to the hospital...

  4. Aaaaaand the baby daddy's in mexico jokes grats you should name it rick

  5. I didn't say that. The point is that whatever mom takes in makes its way through the baby's metabolism. Mom gets stoned, baby gets stoned...get it?

  6. Hon, you just do what's right for you! None of these DUDES have experienced morning sickness! If it comes down to not being able to keep food down, compared to having a puff and eating, you take that puff!

As for the effect of cannabis on your baby, this article should relieve some of your worries. (Yes, I wrote the article that she refers to, but she did a much better job!)

It would be best if you used a vaporizer, edibles (if you can keep them down), or glycerin tinctures. Carbon monoxide, CO2 and combustion products are not good for you or the baby! (I don't think I need to cite a study for that.)

Eat healthy foods, and avoid junk food.

    Granny

  7. Idk about that one granny, that's gotta be worldstar material

  8. Definitely! & I chose to go the route of NOT smoking. I live in an illegal state & it wasn't worth it.. But my story explains what happened to us & how that small decision can affect your life. I get the point. I am not looking for judgement or to judge. No one has a right to do that. People believe what they want to believe. Stand firm in what you believe in. :)

As for parenting - I think everyone learns something different with every child every day.. Eh. I am a new parent. It's each their own when it comes to ingesting what they want..

As for hospitals.. You mentioned being tested at the time of delivery.. Not all hospitals do this.. My hospital I delivered at - one of the hospitals that do not drug test on the reg when in delivery. Go to a hospital less than 5 miles from that one & they do.

You're in a bad spot if you ever try to disagree with Granny. She's one of the few people here who can back up everything she says with mountains of studies :p

  10. I'm not disagreeing with the facts i'm just saying picture how bad that would look to everyone who hasn't clicked those links

  11. Ok i love weed ....loveeeeeee it but you should not be smoking or drinking while pregnant ! Even if smoking is shown not to be bad why would u wanna risk it! Your bringing AN INFANT into this world you should consider how it feels too. It probably doesn't want to deal with all that smoke and alcohol . Come on just wait til he/she is out -_-

  12. Did you read?

She didn't know she was pregnant and she drank. She doesn't plan on drinking anymore, obviously.

Now, she has to decide whether or not she wants to use weed, on occasion, to relieve stress or whatever. This kind of thing is totally up to the individual. People think it's all about getting high, when, in reality, it helps a lot with the uncomfortable symptoms that can occur.

  13. Here in Colorado, they only test the mothers if there's an obvious drug problem. My sister stopped smoking at 7 months just to be sure she could pass a test if necessary. Needless to say my nephew is now 3 and is already reading short sentences. If you ask me, I'd say smoke away, just take it easy. And stay away from cigarettes and alcohol. Those are definite "no-no".

  14. What the fuck?

These men pay absolutely fucking none of my bills. Nobody and I mean nobodys self righteous ass has the right to tell me what to do or don't do during pregnancy.

I mean, it's a free country so you can say what you want but after that, I just don't give a fuck.

That's my point. Pregnant moms can be made to feel so guilty for not doing this or not doing that. It's bullshit and it can drive you insane.

So it's quite hilarious that my comment was 100% spot on. AS I CONTINUE BEING PREGNANT AND GIVING ZERO FUCKS TO RANDOM DUDES ON THE INTERNET WHO KNOW ABSOLUTELY NOTHING ABOUT ME.

It's okay though. This is my second baby that I'm bringing into the world. My first ones just fine. He's actually quite ahead of his time and his terrible, terrible mommy drank caffeine occasionally and smoked a couple times. Oh, I ate some Cinnabun cinnamon rolls. Call child protective services on me because Im dispicable.

  15. Yay!  I love babies.  Congratulations.  :)

  16.
...Yeah, you didn't read anything I've said.

I had no idea I was pregnant when I drank. I literally peed on all the sticks yesterday.

Everyone is assuming I'm going to be staying high, when in all actuality, I don't smoke nearly as often as most of you. There's no tolerance break to be had, because I hardly smoke. I'm here because I will smoke pot casually, and I support legalization. Edit: and some of the people here are really supportive.

In the original post, I said I wouldn't risk smoking, and then said I might if it's crucial. So far, and it's not far at all, I don't feel too bad.

Now, on a lighter note. We're going to the doctor today, and we've been thinking of ways to tell his parents and our close friends. His parents are meggga religious, and will probably have a fit that we're haven't already been to the court house

and for everyone else, he thinks this is the way to go  :p

  17. congratulations i reckon.

They tested my oldest because he was early (my uterus is fucked up, another story for another time) and i smoked the night before my water broke, absolutely nothing came of it.

My brother has brain damage from smoke, having an opinion of "Oh, well nothing bad happened from it so lets just keep doing it!" its incredibly dumb in my opinion, if you knew the full effects not just on your childs life but your own life in regards to guilt, quality and the fact that after age 18 it could potentially not be your problem anymore and you just set this kid loose on society because you didn't give a fuck, i mean that is one of the most ignorant statements i've ever seen.

There are zero conclusive studies to suggest that smoking pot while your pregnant will not negatively impact your child and you know what if you wanna not give a fuck, go ahead, however if your child ends up worse because of it and you have to watch that play out, i don't even understand why you would take that risk, i really hope everything turns out well for you guys because outcome #2 is so far beyond ugly its just stupid, and his isn't even that severe. If i had a kid i would want that kid to have the absolute best life possible, taking a chance, because thats what it is, on that...What the fuck are you thinking.

    Best of luck!
