a word or two on "mutual respect"

  1. Respect is something you earn ,not something you can require or demand.

What ever happened to "free thinking" ?

Becoming a stoned robot I suppose is easier.

  2. *question answered*

I think most people would agree that respect must be earned

  3. What these young thugs don't understand today is you act "respectful" to a person till you find they don't deserve your respect, and then you should have enough sense to keep your mouth shut.
I have way too many stupid motherfuckers tell me that they will not treat someone with respect until they receive respect from the other person. This is studipidity and one reason for all the killing. Who in the fuck is supposed to show respect first with this type of thinking.
Cars in my town in the SE USA have bumper stickers stating "Stop the Killing, Just Walk Away".
It's getting like the jungle, know what I mean.

  4. i give everyone the mutual respect they deserve until they give me a reason to do otherwise. But in terms of respecting someone's post? that can be a different story.

Example: if DierWolf says something about LST or growing in general, I'm gonna say to myself "yeah this guy knows what he's talking about, if i do what he says with my plants it's going to work for me too more than likely" I'm going to doubt something that joeschmoe that joined last month posted about how i should nute my plants until a more "senior" member confirms it. Thats not to say that this guy doesn't know what he's talking about, for all i know...he could be a master grower that's been doing this shit for 30 years.. but when you're on the internet, i go with what i know.

edit: this is also why i believe the rep system should remain in place, but thats another argument altogether
