  1. So, I'm smoking this bowl, and I'm thinking. How does it seem like I get the most blasted out of all my friends, but I smoke the most, since I've been smoking daily and like an eight a day easy all day every day.

    But, basically I was looking at how I was smoking. As I'm finished hitting the bowl, I realize I lean back, and take another couple breaths of air, BUT, I'm sure that they are good breaths and that all the smoke goes deep in my lungs.

    Then I thought, oh shit, I usually only do that during our sesh's... and then it hit me.

    What if, taking those deep breathes lets more of the smoke get absorbed? Because it'd be going into your lungs deeper and it can do w/e the fuck it does better lol. :smoke:
     
  2. I used to hold all my hits for 7 seconds, because I had heard that's how you absorb all the THC. Now I just make sure that I breath the smoke/vape entirely into my lungs before I exhale. So yeah, I take deep breaths often while smoking, and yeah, I think it probably gets you a bit more stoned. But who knows...
     
  3. It doesn't really matter, after a few seconds 95% of the THC is absorbed into the body. Sucking harder or deeper won't really have any effect on how high you're getting.

  7. well heres how i look at it. if you keep it in longer youre going to literally choke yourself. less breathes of air means less going to your blood stream. if you hold it long enough ur body starts to not function the same.

    im not sure if it gets you more high but do you ever get that feeling liek your going to pass out after blowing out a huge hut you held in for a long time. the body needs air and if it doesnt get clean air and gets more smoke than air id assume your going to get more fucked in the head
     
  8. When I first began blazing this older kid who had been blazing for a while decided to time how long he could hold a big ass hit in. Eventually he passed out on the sofa and when he fell down all the smoke came out hahahhaa it was hella funny to see though

    I meant after I take the hit, I take a couple breathes a fresh air, then I hold in for a couple seconds, and then I exhale.
     
  11. I do that too man...I pull a certain amount and stop...then leave enough to pull in more...it gets all the smoke deeper in and also gets the smoke out of my throat...which is why I do it...I have so little shit I make sure and not waste any smoke :D

    Tell you this I know for a fact that not holding your breath for 6-8 sec matters...my sis was like...NO WONDER you don't get high...you aren't holding it in! I did that...went from a whole joint to half lol

    I've read the same thing hundreds of times, the THC in a hit is supposed to be 95% absorbed by your lungs in under 4 seconds. I've even read that most of it is absorbed instantly. So long as it hits your lungs, you're going to get high. Holding it any longer is just letting the rest of the plant material absorb/settle too.

    Now, if your inhalation technique isn't right and you're letting the smoke sit in your throat/mouth, that's another story.

    Holding your breath gives you a head change because of oxygen deprivation, btw.
     

  13. What you have read on here multiple time means nothing. No offence. I see this 95% figure thrown out multiple time daily here, when in truth its pretty incorrect.

    "The Leiden University study found that as much as 30%–40% of inhaled THC was not absorbed by the lungs but simply exhaled. However, they did not find large individual differences in the amounts exhaled.[10] Users may therefore improve efficiency by breathing several times in and out of a bag after a serving."

    By holding your hits in longer and taking more breaths of fresh air during the hit you are able to absorb more then the average smoker. I cant tell you how much more but even 10% more would be a big increase if your taking multiple hits.

    Well, from what I learnt in highscool (nerdy kid who did all of the sciences)
    Holding it in there WILL get you higher, not too much, but it will.

    The deeper you inhale, the more alveolus will be filled.
    The longer you hold, the more diffusion will occur.

    I'm only using common sense though.
    EDIT: AKA, I'm not educated on THC.

    I'm using more oxygen as an example.
    As you also breath out oxygen, you do not diffuse all of the O2 into your blood stream, unless you hold the oxygen in for a while.

    Of which (IT takes 30 seconds for oxygen to reach your brain if I remember correctly so the time between the next inhale, your brain will have less oxygen for 5 seconds or so.

    Which isn't going to really do any damage...

    Also there's been like ten thousand threads about this, just go search on google or this forum or anywhere. It wasn't hard to find.
     
  16. I feel the exact same way. Although I feel like a stingy bastard because I've been smokin' a lot so I usually take the biggest rips I can while those I smoke with take about half of it. What can I say, I smoke to get high, not halfway there. So I blow clouds and get blown myself, then my friends act like they can make fun of me for being so high. So I'm like, u jelly? :bongin:
