Dont remember the quote but it was in the book siddartha by herman hesse, toward the end. edit- I guess it wasnt really a quote, but just the ending of the book. The book talks about how we shouldnt fear/dislike something that is bad, because without bad there is no good. We should appreciate the bad, because it can remind us of all that is good. But I found a quote from the book that also really rang true with me "When someone seeks...then it easily happens that his eyes see only the thing that he seeks, and he is able to find nothing, to take in nothing because he always thinks only about the thing he is seeking, because he has one goal, because he is obsessed with his goal. Its a good quote, but I think a person can see the world as they want it to be, while still being aware of how it really is. Death isnt a bad thing imo. I would rather die being a good man, than live being a terrible one.
I'm not going to argue intangible concepts because we won't get anywhere. I don't believe in spirits. But I'll say this. No one remembers the men Alexander The Great conquered. They do remember Genghis Kahn. And in my opinion if a good man dies, he lost. What is good, and what is bad is determined by the majority. But to the victor...go the spoils.
