My master plan is to have a spot for my mother plant, one for clones, one for veg and a SCROG. I plan on taking clones from the mother on a weekly basis and putting them in a cloner. From there they will go to a veg spot for three weeks. Then they will go under the SCROG for 8-9 weeks. Planning and reality are two different things. On to the questions. 1. Would a 2'x2'x4' space be enough for the mother? How often would I have to replace mom with a clone (due to her getting too big)? Also, what would be the ideal lighting situation? CFLs? How many watts? 2. The clone area will be small, maybe 1'x1'x2' and I plan on using this clone machine. I am also planning on using CFLs. After the clones get roots, do you just plop them in some dirt? 3. The veg area will be 2'x2'x6', will hold 3 or 4 plants and have a 175w MH light. The plants will start in 16oz solo cups and be transplanted to 3 gallon pots for the SCROG. 4. The SCROG will be 2'x5.5'x7', will hold 7 or 8 plants and have two 400w HPS lights. I'm not sure if its better to have two 400w or 1 1000w. Or would 1 400w be enough? 5. I already have a 450 cfm fan and a large carbon scrubber. Does this plan seem unrealistic? Suggestions or comments? There seems to be so many opinions and this is what I came up with. THANKS BLADES.
ok, i do have one comment... do not use miracle grow... vics super soil, purchase bag soil, or make your own... use soil sweetner or dolomite lime and get a ph pen.... when/if you have problems, and you post your pictures inline with your questions, we need to have the answers as well as pictures to help you along ok, now you can build
Thanks Tihspeed. The build has already begun. I'm lucky enough to have an HTGSupply within a 20 minute drive. They have a PH tester kit and I'll adjust the PH to 6 after adding nutrients or anything to the water. Will that be sufficient to keep the PH in check? Should I check the runoff and/or add lime to the soil? Just a few more questions, sorry. About the clones. How long should the roots be before I put them into soil? Also, should I just suspend the clone with my fingers in the middle of the cup and fill the cup with soil? How can I avoid damaging the roots? How often and what NPK should I give mom? I want her to grow slow in the veg state, obviously. I plan on using Fox Farm Ocean soil for all stages of the grow. It's 20 bucks a bag, but I hear it's the best. A final question. Do you know how many amps two 400w HPS, one 175w MH, and 6 23w CFLs will draw? They are all on the same 15A circuit and I don't want to start an electrical fire. Thanks again. I'll post some pictures later.
