I guess I can give the backstory. I think it's really fun to preserve animal hides. It makes me feel pretty primal and good. I didn't kill the deer that the brain belonged to. Someone else did, and told me they were just going to throw the skin away if I wanted it. Lucky for me they kept the head to, so I get to brain tan this hide and make some buckskin. When I was cutting the antlers off for the hunter, I accidentally cut the brain in half. I'll post a thread when I'm done with the hide about tanning the hide.
The fact that the brain is now in a bag is still inconclusive as to where the energy of that buck went to. Its a piece of dead weight in a bag now, without the energy it had to give life to the buck. Much is still to be explored before we can say that life becomes a piece of meat; and that's it, like depicted in the picture
