  1. hey gc im growing from seed for the first time so im starting a journal now :hello:

ive been growing for myself for about a year and enjoying it all very much. right now i have 2-400w hps flowering 2-4plants at a time and a 6bulb t5 vegging. i do not know the genetics of anything ive flowered so far but they are a couple modern name brand strains, clones from a local grower.

anywho lets do this thing. this is dinafem critical jack and sweet deep grapefruit, just pushing out the soil now. im going to veg for about 2 months. they're in roots organic obviously no nutes or anything yet. they weren't 54F that's just what the room was before firing up the lights and getting the plants in there! really small, see em both?

Actually I'm only about 75% sure these are labeled correctly  - will know for sure in a few months. :D

Lowest leaves have that wrinkly shape.

  6. okay i didn't really intend to keep following these flowering ladies in this journal but i can't help myself.
    getting close...!! :D

  7. gotta transplants little ladies, looking sad...... and chop down the big girls

was going to veg cj and sdg for anotehr 6wks but may start flowering in a couple weeks instead... keep em a little smaller. maybe not lst.

    uhhhhhhg, rough month
the plant with the ornaments is a gift, one of not many gifts my heart is really in this yr  ..... the folded cash was kinda fun too.

anyone wanna stop in ... roll one up and chill? post up some music? rant about life? or rave.
    peace,window

  8. Lol rave...I got some deadmau5 going in the grow room as we speak

  9. nicee good call me too

    might ramble here a bit.

so i haven't talked nutes yet. i dislike buying chemical nutrients. all the flowering stuff you see here is foxfarm..... meh... love/hate.

just mixed up a bunch of organic amendments into a wildly strong mix and transplanted - on a whim - without really allowing time too for the soil to cook.
went from solo to 7gal smartpot.... laziness minimizing transplating

not very rational. but what the fuck ever. my grow is ocd therapy, so i try not to give too many thucks. lul thucks? .. fucks

at least im using dechlor water
lets see what happens - may revert to the chems in flower thats why im staying out of the organics section for now.

still undecided on how long to veg, leaning back towards longer, month or more.

heres my mix, amendments sitting around from using outside on tomatoes and peppers. i should have started with something neutral but thats not what was sitting around so . again... thuck it
1.5 cubic foot bag roots organic soil
some leftover extra roots organic soil, gallon or two
add some more perlite or vermiculite whichever, whatevs, by eye
~10 to 15 pounds of bagged wormshit compost
1 cup bonemeal, bloodmeal, alfalfa meal
    2 cup kelp meal
    3of4 cup azomite
    1 cupt high n batshit
    1 cup highp batshit
    1/2 cupgreensand
1cup rockphosphate added 1 day later

gloriously stinky shit!! i love digging in elbow deep and getting it all silky smooth

the pics from yest actually not too current. here we are today, some stress still showing from being rootbound.
thoughts? im just gonna chill and let em enjoy their vast, stinky new grounds

  11. lets take a quick walk thru my setup. unfortunately it is difficult to photograph from pretty much any angle.

the flowering room is framed in with a stealth entrance and soundproofed. inside is about 5x4 of which dedicated is about 5x2.5 to growspace. the ceiling is sloped, leaving a "short side" and a "tall side". i haven't yet taken advantage of the extra height on the tall side. currently one light is cooled and one is open.

the intake is passive. the fan on the intake is acting as a generator and sensor, to monitor exhaust presence. i get an encoded sms alert if my exhaust fails.

the exhaust fan is in a 'storage and facilities' room, outside the grow area. exhaust and scrubbing is handled currently handled by one fan.

here you can see when i had just put everything together. the door is to the veg area.

    IMG_1266p.jpg

now it is a little bit more crowded. i added some shelves, handy for tools and supplies needed often, so i don't have to keep walking around to the supplies area. then i realized one day while really high that the shelves were a good mounting place for my oscillating fan. more recently it is a complete mess with wires and ballasts n shit everywhere, which is rather unlike me.

    IMG_2577p.jpg

okay so lets take a peek round to the veg area thru the door to the left.

thats about it, peaceout, time to light this up :smoking:

  12. Okay it's LST time. I have officially reverted to the original plan of vegging for about another month.

I'm eager to listen to feedback now that we're at the point I can really start screwing things up. I have lots to learn, want to get better, and am very receptive to well-reasoned, well-meaning advice and critique. So fire away if you're so inclined, that's why this journal's here.

  13. Nobody at all wants to follow along?

Okay I've got what seems to be a bit of problem, if anyone could offer some feedback.

The stems are growing really fat where they bend, but seem choked and thin on the vertical part where they come out of the ground. I just took the little ties off that were holding the vertical part. But they weren't very tight.
What did I do wrong and/or will they grow out of this? (the little pics are all still clickable attachments btw)

    just hung these :smoking:

  14. Not sure how there isn't more interest in this...Your nugs are coming out fierce! As for the bend in your plants, I'm pretty sure she will grow out of that. I usually wait a little longer to get any shaping on mine, but I have very little experience working from seed.
Subbed and keeping an eye on this.

  15. yesss thanks Gnark! ...... wait... thats a bad way to abbreviate ur name

heck of a setup you got i will check that out more carefully in a bit!
right in the thick of trimming buds and man does this go slow when youre ocd
think id be too overwhelmed to know where to start on your pulls

think youre right, will wait a little longer next time. When I used clones the stems turned kinda woody faster, genetics perhaps, but these are super supple lol

  16. Hahaha yeah worst possible abbreve in this situation : )
I am sooooo burnt on trimming at the moment! Helped a few friends with their harvests as well, probably trimmed around 40lbs this season and, like you, I have some severe OCD. All in all having a need for your buds to look fantastic isn't a bad thing, and if you can keep your pace decent I have been able to trim a little over 2lbs in a day. Also on harvest day I strip the plant of any fan leaves that have the stems exposed, this cuts down on the final trim and drying time.

  17. Happy New Year! Quick update .... seem to be doing pretty well, growing a bit slow maybe.

Tiny bit of burn on a couple leaf tips.

I'm having to water quite infrequently, about every 5-6 days right now. "7gal" fabric pots.... Will try to soak less of the media in the next couple waterings since the roots likely aren't filling all of it yet.

I can't shake this funny feeling that I have the labels reversed. [IMG]
But I will go forward calling them in this thread as I have them labeled.

I was conflicted for hours trying to decide whether to trim the two biggest fan leaves on SDG. I really hated trimming the plants biggest leaves but finally decided to because they were completely covering and shading all the branching that I would like to encourage. So I went ahead.

    IMG_2628p.jpg

The petioles on these leaves are really FAT.

    IMG_2633p.jpg

    Time for some :bongin:

  18. well i have a major issue ive been lazy as shit and still haven't started flowering these btiches now they're way too big for my space.
