A friendly reminder on wiring

  1. The other day I remembered I had a 175w MH from an old reef tank I had years ago in the garage and thought it'd be a good addition to the veg space I have.
But when I had it over the tank I never seemed to get enough light from it and it was never super bright like my other lights. I tried about 5 different bulbs with the same results.
So as I'm taking it apart to build a reflector I see the wires going to the socket are in terrible shape.(see pic)
I strip the wires back about a foot or so and throw a 6.5k bulb in,and within a few minutes its super bright.
Long story short.... In between grows or switching light cycles check out your wiring.
It's kinda scary to think what woulda happened if I ran this 24/7
