A few suggestions on running Coast of Maine platinum potting soil

Discussion in 'Growing Organic Marijuana' started by jujuofthebush, Jun 7, 2019.

  1. Hey all, So I remember lumper always talking about coast of Maine products guy at the hydro shop got in the platinum potting soil and said it's supposed to be a water only soil straight from the bag, my situation is a apartment grow I have a 2x3 tent for veg with a 300w viparspectra led and I have a 2x4 tent for flower with a 2000w aglex cob/led (real draw is like 425) this run I'm using greenleaf nutrients megacrop and bloom boost(i thought it was organic cause it said vegan) anyway I realized I can really only flower two plants in my tent and I had ordered 5gl fabric pots and they hold more like 11gal of soil, so I said hey switch to a super soil. I have very little room so it'd be hard to let a soil "cook" here, but down to what I'm asking is, is this all I would need should I add more? Will it need to sit (I have the time I can figure it out) I really want to be a water only tea and amend organics guy, also I grabbed coast of maine lobster compost and have the small bottle of mammoth p I have access to the down to earth's organic amendments, and other organic lines (I'm in MI) I'm pretty well versed in organics and some day a no-till setup is my goal, but right now I need to learn how to do a water/tea organic grow in a tiny space.. Any and all input is appreciated thank you IMAG1339.jpg

  3. just my opinion but if it's cheap enough yo can use it and use teas and amendments if you want, it would be easy. But I think for what you will spend you are better off buying the ingredients and mixing your own soil. You would be buying pretty much the same ingredients to use for teas and amendments anyway.... so mix your own and it will be better.
You can find simply soil recipes in the No-till thread or the Easy Organic Soil Mix thread, both of which are sticky threads at there top of the page.
In the long run you will be better off AND less expensive.
oh, and i see you already bought the COM compost, so all you need is some peat, perlite/or rice hulls/or pumice and some amendments (see recipes and keep it SIMPLE)

  4. Thank you, I appreciate your opinion, the problem is storing the soil long term I already got rid of alot of my stuff just to have room for the tents and what not, but I may end up going this route

  5. If you want water only organic grow you need bigger pots, 15gallon at least but 20 would be ideal. You can fit two 20g pots in a 2x4. Other than that I suggest you follow the soil/watering/amending recipe outlined in the no-till thread.
