A few noob questions

Discussion in 'Growing Marijuana Indoors' started by pottismgod, Jan 26, 2007.

  1. ok, i have a few qestions on the whole 12/12, or 6/18 cycle.

i will be using cfls and basically i would like to know how this works.

    1)

when the plant starts growing at its first age which light cycle should be used?

and then at what point do you switch to the other cycle?

    2)
also in terms of nutrients in the bucket, what do you guys recommend to help the plants grow, but grow generaly naturaly, with no chemicals.

    3)
and the last question is do you guys recommend watering each (out of my 3) plant pots or is it better to have the pots with holes at the bottom that wil sit in a pool of water?

this way the plants can get as much water as they need by filing the bottom pool.

    thanks.

  2. first you use 6/18 then some people switch to 24hr when the plant is a little developed. 12/12 is for when you want the plant to start making flowers.

i assume you're growing in soil? if so i can't help any farther that.

  3. searching is so hard cuz so much useless stuff comes up. I mainly just need these 3 questions answereed and i can use the guides and stuff for the rest.

i esp wonder about teh water thing. Wouldnt it be best to have them all in one tub with pots in it that can suck up as much water as needed?

  4. doing some research will help you plenty.. don't be so lazy and expect everything handed to u on a silver spoon..:smoking:

  5. can someone please just help me out with the water question? #3?

i really need to know if i will need to water them or will the water basin bellow work and they will water themselves as needed?

  6. True the search here leaves much to be desired, probably is hard to find answers to these questions.

    1) Start a plant with either 18/6 or 24/0. Switch to 12/12 anytime after you see alternating nodes, veg for as long as you can. The 12/12 light cycle will trigger flowering.

    2) I'm not the person to answer about organic ferts, sorry. Nothing wrong with chemical ferts, IMO. I do use worm castings as a soil supplement, which fertilizes gently.

    3) Not sure I understand your question. You definitely want drainage holes in your pots, you do not want water pooled in the bottom of your pots or you most likely will get root rot (which is as bad as it sounds). When you water do so thoroughly, until water runs out the bottom drainage holes, then don't water again until the soil gets dried out (and not just the top of the soil, poke a finger an inch or so down to feel if the soil, if it is slightly moist still not time to water again).

  7. If your Planting pot has no drain holes, Make some... drill small holes...
then i... with no soil in there yet.. ADD Either River Rocks... or scotts charcole...
have that about 1 - 2 inches... then add your soil... that will give you good drainage..
    G'Luck
