  1. Near death experiences are caused by the brain dying-neurons misfiring. Neuroscience shows us there are many reasons why one could hallucinate in near death: oxygen deficiency to the brain, images produced by the brain due to mental and physical stress, and anesthesia causing dreamlikes states.

    Studies have shown that "near death experiences" can be induced by use of anesthetics, such as ketamine.
