A couple questions about security...

Discussion in 'Grow Room Design/Setup' started by nonexistant, Aug 1, 2008.

  1. Hi, I'm about to start growing and had a couple questions. Right now I'm living on the 2nd floor of a 3 floor apartment complex on the corner of a somewhat busy street. I plan on growing in my bedroom. I have the master bedroom and i plan on dividing the room in half. I'll be building a mini grow room on the other side with pvc foil or some sort of plastic sheeting with a zipper door. It'll hopefully be smellproof because i want to have an air pump pumping clean air in from my room and "dirty" air through a carbon coal filter and out a window to a somewhat busy street. What I want to know is if its possible to pull this off without getting caught. If I get a good enough coal filter will smell not be an issue? how much would a high quality filter cost? I also don't really want our entire apartment smelling like weed. I dont mind if my room stinks (i sorta help it does, it'll make me happy :) ) , but i'm pretty sure my landlord will probably throw a fit even though I have my license and permit to grow. I was hoping on growing like 12 plants if possible. Anything else i can do to cover up smell? second coal filter? or like an air purifier or something? I also heard about things that spray like ether oil into the air or something. Thanks for your help.

  2. If you get a good quolity carbon filter this will filter 100% of any smells. For the belt and buckle approatch use in conjunction with a ozone genorator. A carbon filter will last you around 1 year so its a good investment. I wouldn't recomend making one just spend the extra and get the real macoy.:smoke:

  3. So your growing in an apartment. Your gonna split a bedroom in half. My opinion never grow in an apartment! maybe a closet. The 2 biggest things that i factor in are, 1. THE SMELL with 12 plants no matter what scrubber you come up with its gonna leak at least in one place . 2. What if your apartment needs maintenance whose gonna come in and see it, what if they need to fix a leak somewhere? Thats my opinion, you might be fine but id be some what weary about it.

    Good luck dude

  4. Worst case senerio, dude pisses off his landlord and has to find a new place it sounds like...

  5. Replace the bed room lock with a pad lock, this will stall any unwanted or uninvited visitors (ie-landlord) from seeing what's going on long enough you can tell him your right as a tenant to a 24 hours notice and so you can take all your shit down.

  6. i'd read your lease contract. some places you don't have to get a 24 hour notice and it tells you straight up that they can come in(my lease even says break a window to get in) in some cases. and yeah, splitting a room in half to grow in an apartment is more than likely a terrible idea. how do you plan on exhausting air out your window? how you do that will play a huge roll in how suspicious that looks.

  7. worst case is he pisses off the landlord, gets turned in by landlord and goes to jail....what? just saying.......:smoke:
