A bending question... Not time related though...

  1. I saw around that when people start "bending" or training them to bush out that they bend them at the first node... Would it be OK to bend them at say... the 2nd or 3rd? I'm assuming it would cause the same affect??? I bent a bunch of mine the other day at either the 2nd or 3rd node (depending on the plant)... They were still plaible, so when I bent them they stayed at the 90 degree angle. Is this cool, or did I screw 'em up? I'm trying to keep them as short, bushy, and unnoticable as possible - so any further advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks you guys. You truly do FUCKIN ROCK!

  2. It should be fine, just bend it a little bit more each day, and it should be fine.

  3. i got a suggestion for ya but i got to go to work for a bit first... :( ...brb..lol..

  4. Well... I'll be checking back probably a dozen or so more times today so whenever you get around to it, it's cool. No rush, lol :)

  5. ok got that out the way.....sorry i cant draw or get my pc to do it either so im going to have to explane it to you...

i dont know your full story.....is the plant still in pots waiting to go in the ground or its in the ground....if its in the pot what you want to do is plant at about 90 degree angle then tie you sting to the very top of the plant...then get a stick and put it in the ground....tie the other piece of string to it....what your aiming for is the plant to grow horizontally with colas growing vertical from each node...you will be able to do this by keeping the plant tied down and moiving you stick along...if it in the ground alraedy you will have to do it a bit slower...this method is used alot by outside growers here for stealf and yield...hope that helps you out...

  6. They're already in the ground, and doing pretty good. They're all about 8-12" tall, and have 3-4 nodes a piece. What I did was bend them down at a 90 degree angle at the second node from the top (those that I figured would take too it). They stayed in this position as the tips are still pretty pliable (The bottoms are good and sturdy from a bunch of wind when they were babies)... I'm planning on tying them down once they've recovered from the shock of being bent almost in half, LOL. One slightly broke, but it wasn't bad. I expect it to heal fully...

I think I did it a bit differently than what is typical, but I think it should have the same affect...

  7. what your doing there is the L.S.T method...this will bring more bottom growth to the top so you end up with 4 or 5 colas instead of one big one...once your plants have recoverd you want to start trying to get them to grow horizontally like i seid befor....

  8. L.S.T.??? I've heard that around, but I'm not quite sure what it stands for and whatnot...

I read up on scrogging, and saw that bending down the tips created more tips... I figured the same would work outside (but without the screen obviously), so I bent them down in hopes of creating more tips, and a bushy plant... Sounds like my idea is gonna work afterall, LOL :D

So next step is tying down the main tip so it can't go back upwards... Now, will this create new tips out of the new nodes? Or will new tips grow out of the node near the bend?... Or both?

  9. Low Stress Training......what i think would be good is just to get you plants growing along the ground....then they will grow 2 colas for every node...a rough look to how the plant will be like this..

    __Y__Y__Y__Y__Y get the idea..

this will give you lots of colas....short and bushy...no big arse tall plant with one cola that can be seen for Ms...

  10. Ahh... It all makes sense now. Thanks for the help! I think bending the stem 90 degrees doesn't really qualify as low stress, but then again, I imagine there could be harsher ways of doing it. :)

  11. lol.......your welcome..

    EDIT...and thank you... :D .

  12. So no new tips will grow from the node I bent 'em at???

This is more of what I was trying to accomplish...

    Code:

    Y_Y_Y_ _Y_Y_Y

          |

  13. No it will not grow new nodes or branches from training. It only insures more light reach the bottom bud sites, making the plant grow more evenly and bush as opposed to vertical growth.

You need to top the plant and it will sprout into 2 stalks at that point. Best done during veg stage.

If the stem seems to have snapped or bent permanently, don't worry it will recover.

  14. That's what I was thinking... Just wanted to make sure :D Thanks for the info. I'm a bit nervous about topping as the last one I tried to top didn't appear to be doing so well the last I checked on it.

  15. it seems sometimes it takes plants a while to get over the shock and others seem to luv topping....

  16. Awesome. That would mean that you could tie down the new tips to spread 'em out and they'll pretty much do the same thing as the main tip then... NICE... That could mean the difference between an alright yield and a mega yield in my case. Thanks a lot. I'd give ya some rep+, but it won't let me yet, lol. Thanks again for your help.

EDIT: Congrats on your 1,500 post... This deserves a little crazy dance...

*Does the 1,500 post dance for thc*

Oh yeah... Get down... Uh huh... It's your birthday...

  17. Dito..

  18. One thing to note . . . I did major LST on one plant from my first grow. Regardless of how many bud sites you have, yield will be limited with the size of pot/container you are growing in.

  19. Well, in that case I'm only limited by the equinox... I'm going outdoors, and in the ground... So the earth is my container :D
