Well I want to put a 1000watt hps and metal halide for veg and just so you know I do already have a closet journal Sent from my 5041C using Grasscity Forum mobile app
Let me talk more. I have inside a spare bedroom a 5x5by 6foot 8inch tall grow tent never used. I want to put a 1000watt metal halide/hps light fixture in there. I only want to use 4x4area in there this with 1000watts that will be 65watts per square foot. I will have a 6inch carbon filter and fan system and a intake fan for exhaust if needed. I will have the works .I will have air if needed and I have a small radiator heater for winter if needed.either venting the smell through the light socket or out a vent out the window. Raise pots up ot lay them on top of heat pads .Only plan to grow 4 plants giving them 6.25square feet each for growth. Will not let them get over a couple feet tall as I plan to fill a caring net up.veg for 6-8weeks total filling the net then maybe use bamboo and last last lollipoppin super crop etc.. whatever it takes. Using10 gallon fabric pots. Saucers up under to collect run off plus a wet dry vac. FF solid Happy frog. Couple of 8-10inch fand circulating air plus fresh air intake.if done right I'm wondering with high yield but potent genetics I'm wondering what I might be able to achieve. Also starting around December 1.if I veg 2months and flowers 2 I plan on harvest of aprAp1 give or take. What you think I can yield assuming all goes right in soil
I think the CMH is a better option. Don't shun the modern LEDs either, as they do perform extremely well. 4x V2QB96: or get the best of the best... which isn't MH/HPS or CMH, its a fluence SPydrX which is revolutionizing the growing industry. I personally may do some more comparative grows with CMH vs (modern) LEDs, and I'm very happy using current technology. But I assure you that I will not be using MH/HPS ever again.
Also, consider the heat impact from CMH/MH/HPS, those babies are hot (!) and most growers that use them need to cool the tent/room using an AC. Thats' not the case using modern LEDs. I have no real problems with heat in LED grows, and neither do I have problems with height/space in the tents (unless I am growing a strain called Thanos). More power will be required, more costs, maybe even need to add humidifiers too.
I also want something like a QB but right the reason I'm using hps right now is upfront cost. After I save or make a little money I m going better places and can't wait
What's your budget like? You don't need a spydr, you can still get nice QB96s (although they are hotter). My HPS gear, still have it, but I don't use it. I was going to rig the reflector with leds and just ditch the guts. You could probably get by using 2x 800 boards, or similar, like 8x 288s. If you do get 96s, save a dime and make your own frame, I prefer mine since I can move the lights along the frame. Imma provide my drop list for you to glance at some boards. They are all pretty well reputable, including the Chinese providers. The list isn't exhaustive, and its not really ranked, except for HLG is first choice (after spydr). You can save a lot of money and still yield great crops using KingBrite lights. Just be aware that LM301B/H are the newest Samsung chips, and that the addition of red photo diodes are believed to increase yields. If you are tight on cash, I would still just buy the best lights and just grow a smaller crop and buy more as time goes on... prices will drop anyhow over time, they aren't going anywhere. But what's the use of buying cheap lights that either won't provide good yields or that you will have to replace in a year? nah, buy one good light and move up from there I say.
