99% of info on urine tests are BS

Discussion in 'Seasoned Marijuana Users' started by Nottoohappy, Jun 18, 2012.

  1. I smoked regular until about 1 1/2 years ago then quit completely because I had to use pain management to control chronic pain.

I smoked for a few days about 3 months ago 4-5 days tops. A week ago I failed a urine test! I can't believe the testing lab is using any sort of minimum cutoff levels, but I'm still in shock I registered at all. If I fail a test in about three weeks I will be released from pain management and I'll be screwed!

Has anyone ever heard of someone testing positive after 3 months, what about 4 months. Am I some kind of freak of nature who's fat cells won't let go?

I've read where heavy users may test positive up to two months, but I smoked 4-5 days in the last year and a half, so I'm not a heavy user and it was just about 3 months from when I quit to when I took the urine test I failed.

Any ideas of why or how I could have failed? Right now, I have no confidence I'll pass after 4 months since I failed after 3. :(

  2. thats the most unfortunate thing ive ever heard. the only possibility i can think of was you getting a false positive

  3. Certain painkillers will do the same thing. Google what medications create false positives, and dont take that medication for awhile.

  4. Wow, thanks for such quick and empathetic replies. I shouldn't be surprised, tokers, or the ones I've known are generally a wonderful group of people.

I do take an NSAID, meloxicam and an opiate pain reliever. According to NORML, NSAIDS should no longer produce false positives.

Here's my real dilemma; This was my first visit to a new doctor, one in my neighborhood because the crazy pharmacies in my area have started refusing to fill narcotic prescriptions for doctors not located nearby. The clinic I had been using for two years was only 20 miles away and the pharmacy I was using was honoring the prescriptions the whole time until a couple months ago. I went to other area pharmacies and was told the same thing. So instead of fighting I switched to a local doctor.

I don't believe my doctor would accept any evidence of false positives anyway. I believe my best option is to ask for a hair test which can go back 90 days. Which by the time I go to the doctor it will have been over 90 days.

Any thoughts? Is it a good idea? Thanks

  5. Hair is Probably a worse idea. why wouldnt your doctor accept the answer that you smoked marijuana months ago, but dont anymore?

  6. The doctor says he has to wean me off narcotics because I tested positive for weed. I didn't want to argue because my understanding is most doctors would have said "hit the door" I will have to find another doctor, but good luck, because that test is in my records now. Not real sure what I'll do :(
I'm keenly aware though others may not be, that there is a total hysteria out there due to junkies turning fro heroin to painkillers. Few doctors are willing to prescribe, few pharmacies are willing to fill. The war on drugs has many unintended victims and legitimate chronic pain patients are just one of them.
There are doctors, now this is no bull!, who have been prosecuted because they have patients who took way more medicine than was prescribed or mixed it with alcohol or even meds the doctor didn't prescribe and ODed.
It's crazy out there, like the freakin dark ages! We've got people serving more time for growing weed than raping women and doctors going to prison because some of their patients are not taking the medication they prescribe like they're supposed to.

Makes me kind of ashamed to be an American at times

Thats crazy. Come to canada, we have rights here. In all seriousness though, Im sorry to hear that. Maybe talk to a lawyer, one may help you get the treatment you need.

  8. Thanks again for the advice. Someone told me I could go to rehab and upon completion be accepted again by doctors. LMAO can you imagine, rehab for weed? For smoking weed 4-5 days in the last 18 months?

As bad as it is, you need to doctor shop (find a new doctor).

There is no law in the United States that requires him to drug test you before prescribing painkillers or renewing your prescription.

This is the doctor's personal policy, or that of the practice that employs him.

My doctor was told that I smoke many years ago. It has never come up again, and neither he nor any of the specialists who have seen my medical records have ever discussed it with me. I've never been asked to take a drug test by them either. None of that has caused me any difficulty getting painkillers.

  10. ive taken a bunch of lab tests.. for a state job..

everyday smoker.. was smoking about a oz every 3 weeks.. stopped for 5 days and passed..

went on to smoke every day about 2 gs a day..for about 3 weeks.. stopped for 3 days.. got tested and failed.. doc said it seemed as if i took 1 hit about 1 1/2 week prior...

idk why u failed.. could of been for other reasons besides weed....urine temp, volume, other drugs/meds...
