8x8 shed and 2 400w lights?

Discussion in 'Beginner Cannabis Consumption & Tips' started by Magnum420, Dec 8, 2010.

  1. Hey guys I'm new to this and I was just wondering if it's possible to flower 12 plants that have bin in veg for 3 weeks in a 8x8 shed using 2 400w lights? My first goal woul be to get a yield of a minimum of 1oz dry bud per plant. I visited 2 local shops and they both suggested 2 600w lights, but they diet seem to understand Wen I told them my cable and breaker wouldn't alow more than a 10amp load of lights. Any help is greatly apreciated

  2. wrong section man, you'll get more help if you scroll a little further down the forum.

edit: i just read your post, and i don't know to much about inside growing but no, you cannot spontaneously flower a plant thats only been vegging for 3 weeks.

  3. Two 400 watt lights will work but it's less than ideal for that space. Paint the inside of the shed flat white or cover the walls with mylar to help reflect some light back to your plants. One ounce per plant sounds reasonable under normal circumstances but you have a bigger problem. You absolutely can go to flower with 3 week old plants, but you will be severely overcrowded with 12 plants in that space if most of them turn out to be female. They're going to stretch to 2 or 3 times their current height and fill out considerably when you go to 12/12. While the footprint of your shed can probably accomodate 8 plants, you won't have any room to move around inside and tend to them. It will be plants wall to wall.

  4. Sorry for posting in the wrong spot. Do u guys think if I limit it to 8 plants they will grow better and possibly make up in yield for the other 4 I would remove? And yes right now the walls are flat white and I did have more than a cuple people tell me 3 weeks is ok, but I'm still just learning.

  5. Are you growing from clones or from seed where you'll be culling some male plants?

  6. no worries, it might just get moved by a mod.

if you grow 8 plants it is possible that they will grow better than if you used 12. Mainly being because each plant will receive more light. However, 3 weeks is way to short.

  7. Why do you say 3 weeks is too short? Lots of indoor growers go 12/12 right from seed to limit height. I usually go to flower at 4 weeks. It limits yield but produces the same quality of bud. You have to make adjustments when you grow in confined spaces.

  8. I'm getting my plants by clones and the shed dose have an a/c in it. I guess the # of plants can always be changed but the lights I buy I'll be stuck with for a while. currently in the shed it's split down the middle half for veg and half for flowering we currently have a 1k setup and just wanted to cover mor ground by moving the veg inside a closet and using the whole shed for flowering. If I can reach an oz per plant I mite get the 2 400 if not I guess I'll have to upgrade the setup to handle 2 600.

  9. I'd still go with the 2 600's if possible but you should easily be able to do an ounce per plant with the two 400's if you're realistic about how many plants you can fit. Try 8 or 9 plants clustered as close to the center as possible. Try to to keep a small path around three sides so you can travel around the room. Center the lights over the plants, not the room. Get through this grow but research topping and training techniques to maximize yield for your next grows. Expect between 2 and 3 ounces per plant when you get the hang of it.

  10. wow thats sounds cool. if i can even get 2oz per plant with the 2 400s i think i will shoot for that! i think i understand the mor watts in most cases = bigger yield but i dont mind with just getting buy. however we will be saving sum$ to pay for the new lights my bro and i pretty much split everythig!

  11. well thanx so much guys but i think i found a better place to post all my grow room and light question, it was a lil lower on this forum:hello:
