http://cnsnews.com/news/article/73-new-jobs-created-last-5-months-are-government Lol these guys are such tricky dicks! I added the link I keep forgetting to do that, I am a little annoyed with my stoned self.
Well considering out debt is on a path to infinity we should employ everyone in government jobs. Only but so long till the currency collapses anyway.
It's like we are purposely following the path of Greece. It's like the government is made up if incompetent retards. Actually, that would be an insult to people who are mentally challenged. I can't wait until civil unrest personally.
they need people loyal to them. Its not to help anyone out. This is just another fishing net like welfare
You both realize thats just another spending increase and is counter-productive regarding the debt problem, right?
These types of articles rely on the fact that no one will actually click on their links and double check their data. Did you open the excel files and take a look? Click on the "20,559,000" (I can't attach an excel file here). Yes, in the past 5 months, the number of people employed by the federal and state governments has gone up from 19,938,000 to 20,559,000. Go back to January of 2012, and we are at nearly exactly the same level. Go back to November of 2008 (when Obama was elected). The overall number of state and federal employees has gone down from 21,456,000. All the chart really shows is that public sector jobs actually decreased to the lowest point in 8 years in June of 2012, and that number is slightly coming back up. How about a more complete picture? Job Growth Continues in June: Private Sector Growing Faster than Public Sector in... -- WASHINGTON, July 12, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ --
If the government is going to pay all these people with the tax money that people give the government from there jobs then we are just losing money. I realize this its what I said in my other post. They aren't trying to be productive they are handing people things for free or giving crappy jobs out so people will be totally loyal to the government.
No government jobs are productive and they all decrease the standard of living for that particular society. This is always how it's been, it's always how it will be. Unemployment can be fixed easily by giving government jobs to all. Unfortunately employment means nothing when the jobs aren't productive, which is another thing forever overlooked by the media and politicians (and random statists of all kinds).
Yes, that is correct. Jobs in environmental management, public works, and social services all decrease the standard of living.
Agreed, if they are government jobs. All government jobs are inefficient. Inefficiency means wasteful of resources. Destroying resources lowers the standard of living for all. In the private world those things would be done far, far better and efficiently, leaving spare resources to be used in other ways, increasing our available goods and services and raising the standard of living.
Looks like the distinction between government and society has been blurred once again! "Socialism, like the ancient ideas from which it springs, confuses the distinction between government and society. As a result of this, every time we object to a thing being done by government, the socialists conclude that we object to its being done at all. We disapprove of state education. Then the socialists say that we are opposed to any education. We object to a state religion. Then the socialists say that we want no religion at all. We object to a state-enforced equality. Then they say that we are against equality. And so on, and so on. It is as if the socialists were to accuse us of not wanting persons to eat because we do not want the state to raise grain." - Frédéric Bastiat
I was being somewhat sarcastic, it didn't really come out right. I do agree that the private sector would do the jobs more efficiently. However, I'm not totally clear on the extent of your opinion on this. Do you believe that things like law enforcement or environmental monitoring would be better performed by private companies? Are you advocating government oversight on the private companies performing these services?
How many environmental disasters has the EPA failed to prevent? How many food contamination incidents did the FDA fail to prevent? If state run education is so efficient, why do aggregate test scores go down every year? How many terrorists has the TSA stopped?
I'm an anarchist. I don't believe government has any role at all in modern society. Law enforcement, along with everything else, should be privatized and government should be abolished. I knew you were being sarcastic, but I like to respond to sarcastic posts as if they were serious.
I don't know. Considering that Gangam style is getting close to 1 billion views I don't think people have enough care to come away from their minimum wage jobs and Youtube videos to revolt. I can't wait for people to start starving personally. Maybe that would knock everyone out of their trance of entertainments and attempt to find out whats going on for once.
Revolutions can lead to even greater statism. Just sayin. They go two ways, much more statism and totalitarianism or much more freedom and liberty.
It's so sad that statists and socialists have been wrongly accusing liberals of this type of thing since liberalism first arose hundreds of years ago. Imo it shows how little merit their position actually has, when they have to resort to such weak fallacies over and over.
