Hello GrassCity Family. Welcome to my first Ever grow journal. This is my 4th grow but my first grow using only LED's. I must admit that I do have ulterior motives behind making this journal, I need some help diagnosing an issue that I am current having with two of my plants. I have plenty of pictures of both the problem plants and my whole set up.

    Without further ado,

    My set up:
    (2) 32 watt bulbs that put ou t 2,800 lumens each (florescent lighting)
    (3) 240 watt Lighthouse Blackstar LEDs
    (1) 3x3 Mylar Grow Tent.

    Medium & Nutrients:
Canna Coco in 5 gallon Pots
    Cana Coco A + B
    Green Fuse Bloom Stimulator
Canna PK 13/14 (using for 1 week, 3 weeks into flowering)

    The Girls:
    (1) Reserva Privada Purple Wreck (feminized)
    (1) Eva Seeds Veneno "poison" (feminized)
    (1) Dinafem Critical Jack "Autoflowering" (feminized)
    (7) Dinafem Roadrunner Automatic "Autoflowering" (feminized)

And for a little background info:

The PurpleWreck & Veneno Plants are about 1 month old and were just
switched to 12/12. As these are my only two NON-Autoflowering plants,
regardless of the fact that they are my two "problem" plants, I thought
it would be best to flip the lights so they can be in the flowering
    tent with their Autoflowering sisters.

Now for some close ups of the problem plants.

Please aid me in determining what is causing the yellow discoloration on the fan leaves and the bleach yellow discoloration on the new growth. Some leaves appear to be turning yellow from their tips and other leaves appear to be yellow right in the middle of the leaves. The two plants were transplanted from Foxfarm Ocean Forest into Coco medium before I induced flowering. They were then watered them with half strength Canna Coco A + B, about 5ml per Gallon at ph of 5.5. I'm assuming the bleaching issue on the leaves was a result of PH deficiency in soil (run off was reading 4.8 on digital meter) which is why they're now in coco and receiving the correct nutrients that are ph'd between 5.3 and 5.8.

  2. There are also 3 Dinafem Roadrunner seeds that are still germinating. They will be transplanted into the Canna Coco in a few days. I will add some pictures of the 3 sprouts that are under my florescent light as well as some pictures of the other autoflowering plants that are already in Coco, inside the grow tent. Until Next Time.

  3. How close are your lights? I just started an LED grow, my first LED grow with a simple 240 panel. I suggest doing research online or picking up the proper tool to measure the actual wattage that your lights are pulling. Mine was listed at 240 and is only pushing about 155, which is more than enough for one plant. I also think your bleach problem is definitely the distance of your lights to the plants. I would allow 11-12 inches at LEAST from top of plant to light. That is what I think your bleaching is from. Let me know what you think.

  4. My lights were about 8-9 inches from the plants. The Lighthouse Blackstar 240 Watt LED's pull around 151 watts from the wall, very close to your lights actual pull. I appreciate the advice, took it, and raised the lights 12 inches from the top of my tallest plant. I'll update with some new pictures in a few days. Thanks for the advice, hopefully this will do the trick!

  5. Okay cool! Good luck! Yea the second day I put my planty under the LED I had the LED like an inch from the top of the plant, came back the next day and she had 4 burned leaves and did not look happy. Then I progressively moved the light further and further away. Meanwhile I pulled from a few different online sources that told me that generally you want 10-12 inches from panel to plant. I also picked up a Lux reader and took some readings and I am running mine currently at around 11.5 inches and it is giving me MORE THAN enough lumens while not harming my plants leaves ;D

Awesome. I'm interested in seeing how many lumens each 240 watt LED is putting off. What is a safe range to be in as far as lumens per plant or per 3x3 area?

  7. Also I think the bare minimum is 10k lumens per plant.

  8. Also, I was thinking maybe you could go further away with your panels if you don't see improvement since the distance I told you was with one panel.. But I don't see why adding panels would increase the distance. The only think I see increasing is total heat given off, but if you are monitoring your heat and exhaust you should be fine.

  9. Great choice in lighting. I think you should raise them up a bit though. Also, IMO, you're water ph is too low for soil. I think you're just locked out a little. Check runoff!

  10. Ya absolutely love the lights! I'm actually growing in coco, so I just flushed the medium to rid it of any salt build up and now I'm watering them between 5.5-5.8. I'll update with some new pictures tomorrow after I raise the lights a hair. I can also post some pictures of my previous harvest if anyone is interested. Just let me know. Until next time.
