I've been too lazy to make a grow journal throughout this whole process, and it's almost complete, so I figured it's time to make one. Only about 10-20 days left until I chop, and it's been a long journey.

    Here are the specs...
-The strains I'm growing are Afghan Kush, and a strain I don't know the name of. both bag seeds. at the time I had the unkown strain, I thought it was Super Silver Haze. After growing the bag seed it smells like a distinct mix of Haze and Skunk.

-Miracle Grow Moisture Control soil, a friend gave it to me.

-Two 35 gallon containers (1 on top with the soil and drilled holes in the bottom sitting on top of cans in the other 35 gallon container for draining)

-Only fed water until flowering, then Molasses, and Miracle Grow Bloom Booster.

    -LST'd, and Fimmed/Topped

    -Small fan

-Lighting will be talked about further down.

This is what my ladies looked like the day I made this post, day 49 of flowering.

Now I started this because I couldn't smoke for a little while. I figured I might as well do something with all the seeds I had and have some bud ready to smoke when I can smoke again. So I started this just not really caring, with the whatever happens, happens, attitude. I didn't want to put any money into it. It was pretty half assed. But about half way through it, I made it a little better, and they start turning into some alright plants.

Out of all the seeds I germinated, only 2 survived.

Well now I need a place to put these with some light now... I try this nifty place with some incandescent ceiling flood lights :p

    DAY 46, WEEK 7 - VEG
    August 25th, 2009
With the scorching Houston, Texas heat in the summer and only a fan blowing, it is very, very hot. The plants are experiencing heat stress I believe, in combination with the shitty lighting, and growing extremely slow.
Since I couldn't make it any cooler, I needed some way to make them grow better. So I figured I'd get some better lighting with some cheap CFL's. So the first 7 weeks they grew like the 1st picture, and this day I finally put some small cfl's in as seen in the 2nd picture.

    November 6th, 2009
Okay, now we are finally starting to get somewhere... Unfortunately the Afghan Kush with the large, curved, lst'd, stem turned out to be a male.
LUCKILY, I had planted another afghan kush about 1 month before that because I figured hey this is kind of working, why not just throw another plant into the mix.

Now by this time I have actually put effort into this grow. I got 5, 65watt big CFL's from lowes. and I can smoke again, so there is no need for a super long veg time so that the plants will be ready for when I can smoke again.
BUT, I have a male plant, and a small female that needs to catch up to the super big unknown strain. So back to more Vegging....

  4. DAY 180, Week 25
    Day 25 Flower

    January 4th, 2010
I have started flowering by this time, about 25 days ago on December 10th.
The baby Afghan Kush is still very small, but I can't wait a any longer. It's just one main stem with leaves. But the Unknown Haze/Skunk is huge, with colas everywhere. it responded very well the the fim and lst. however, I did not do that to the new baby afghan because there was not enough space for lst and I did not want to waste time with healing from fimming/topping.

I fed them a gallon of water, mollases, and mg bloom booster, wait 5-6 days, then fed them a gallon of water and mollases. I repeat this cycle.

Here you can see the main setup with the big 65 watt cfls, and you can also see how small the afghan kush really is (the plant right under that big fan leaf closest to the white arrow), and how big and bushy the haze/skunk is.

I probably won't yield that much, but for all the shit they went through I think it's going to be pretty good quality smoke...

Here is some more shots I forgot were on my camera all of the unknown.

  8. Omg amazing plants i wish i could start growing already so bad.

  9. Thanks!

Does anyone know if they will beef up a little more in the next 10 days? I know I can't expect that much with CFLs. They look kind of thin and un-filled out, but good quality. I'm thinking about maybe even doing 15 - 20 more days instead of 10 since the buds are so small.

Hey man u might want to be care about growing over your expected times because you might over grow and make the bud quality go down. Look into getting a microscope to look at the trichs and also look into what trichs look like on the buds when they are peak quality. Also you might be fine because most of the pistols still look alive and they will die off. Which im sure you know already but just incase a lil helpful hint. BTW This is Johnny Cool lol you know who.

  19. Week 9 of Flowering
    Feburary 14, 2010

The Unknown Strain has matured much more and smell is actually noticeable now in the room, and definitely when trimming. It'll smell the whole house up when trimming. But it has that lemony haze smell to it. Which brings be back to my first guess when i had the actual bud it came from that it was Super Silver Haze. Then farther into the grow I started thinking it was Purple Power Plant because of the haze/skunk smell. But now I'm pretty sure I have Super Silver Haze. I'll have to wait for the final cure and smoke to be sure.

I noticed a lot of buds with orange and red hairs so I chopped, trimmed, and dried them. Leaving the buds that never got much light a while longer to mature. Most still with white hairs. I'm also letting the Purple Afghan Kush go longer as well, i want it to knock me the fuck out ;)

  20. Day 70
    Week 9
    Flowering

As I explained in my last post, I haven't harvest everything, just the ones that looked done. Mainly the colas that were sticking up everywhere. Now I'm giving time for all the bottom buds that didn't get enough light to mature more.

This is what they look like after the half harvest.

Here's some pictures of the bud that got chopped that's still drying. They are about half way done drying in these pictures. Pretty airy bud. I think all that bud hanging will just be an ounce at most.
