7-9 day old seedling problems

  1. Hello All,

This is my first grow and and my first post. I have done searching, but it seems to me that I should just ask the question and give you all as much specific info as possible.
I have 15 seeds that have all germinated, 10 white widow and 5 thai stick. I am growing indoors in a closet under 160 watts of cf lighting. My closest plant is approximately 4 inches from the light and the furthest is 6 inches away. The average temperature at plant level is 80-85 degrees farenheit and my humidity level is only 40-45 percent. I currently am not using fertilizers, and my soil is supersoil brand potting soil with vermiculite and pearlite mixed in. I am currently watering every day because the soil is dry to a depth of 3-5 cm.
My problems are: 1. the soil seems to be drying out to fast, I am going to get a humidifier and see how this helps, does that sound reasonable.

    2. More importantly the cotyledons are yellowing, I see from the posts that this is normal, but isn't 7-9 days of life a little soon for the cotyledons to be dying off.

    3. Also my regular vegetative leaves are not quite as green as they were two days ago. They aren't developing serious yellow spotting, but it is an overall reduction in green on the entire leaf surface.

Is it possible that I should start to fertilize already? Could it be the pH of my soil and water that is causing this?

    Thanks

  2. 1did you clean the closet before planting. . .could be mold
2are the plants getting fresh air current. . .could be stail air
3maybe they should be in soil .. . could be that too much oxygen getting in the roots. . .it probably is crying for nutrients
4dry soil. ..maybe you should water more often. . .or Google how to make a hydroponic watering system
    im just trying to help
