Okai So 1st Ill introduce myself, Then Ill explain my setup, Then ask some questions. My name is didly I have been a member of another pot site for about 5 years but its pretty much dead over there figured id try my luck over here. Im starting a soil closet grow using a 1000w HPS. The light has 8" ducts on both sides there will be about 8-10 bubba kush plants from seed in the closet. I realize there will be alot of light/heat in the closet.. this is my main concern I plan on putting my ballast outside of the closet I have a lightrail at the top of the closet for my light mover. With the light attached I have about 3 feet of usable space from the top of my 3 gallon buckets to the enclosed hood of my light. I was also thinking of doing a scrog setup...but not quite sure yet. Maybe I can do 4 plants under a screen 2 lst'd in a circle and 2 left alone or maybe topped once. just to see how the bubba responds. I was given a couple of inline 4" duct 150 cfm "dryer booster fans" I only plan on using one. But am thinking about using another exhaust fan as well. the plan is to run the duct to another room and either just exhaust into the room or exhaust it up to the roof. Also the fan has a built in uhhhh control unit basically the thing kicks on when it feels the dryer running i plan on bypassing this to a switch or somthing... Basically my questions are this... Will this fan be ok for now? is it ok to have the fan on constant while the light is on? instead of on every few minutes. If i do need it on every few minutes How is this done? what kind of timer would I need? Id also keep it on for about 5-20 mins after the light is off. I plan on putting at least one hole in the wall opposite of the inline fan.. for passive intake( or should i use the other dryer booster fan as an active intake? How do i taper down from 8" to 4" ducts? If I add another exhaust fan say at the top of the closet... (same side as the inline) can I connect the 2 ducts to a Y so I can just have one exit?? My friend said he has another fan that I can check out if we can find it... said it looks like a turbine. hopefully its bigger then 4" Do you guys think I will be okay as far as heat? Just a little info My closet is underneath my loft bed.... there is somespace connected to the closet about 2 feet from the end of the closet to the wall that is under the stairs.. just thought id throw that in there so my closet doesnt seem like SUCH a concealed place Also We live in an old house with an old breaker box... Our breakers pop just from using the microwave toaster oven tv and washer... I believe they are 15 amp breakers. Will it handle my 1000w lamp, 2 exhaust fans, timer/powerstrip, and maybe an oscilating fan.. Oh and my light mover Thank you in advance if you have even read any of this... .and sorry for the long rant... just trying to get it all down so someone has an idea of my setup.
yeah, it looks like you will be ok. its winter here and my 1000w runs without exhaust. the lamp keeps my room a nice temperature.
Well First of all I realized a scrog set up is VERY difficult to water in a small closet space if ur using soil. And if u need to trim and maintain you can't really take them out.. So think about that one. I Have a similar closet size. In the summer my plants had trouble with heat, I had only a 400w hps (no ac hood) I've upgraded to a 600w digital hps now with 4" hood with glass plate and a 250cfm fan. The temp here is about 4-8 degrees in BC right now and temp are easy to maintain in winter, but think ahead to summer time! Don't be a stoner! Lol. In my opinion the 1000w is too much, ur gana have a battle with the heat. If ur jus growing winter then it's ok. As to contoll ur fan you can get a fan dimmer type switch, I got one for $15. Hope this helps. Msg me if u have eny questions!!
for that space 1000 watt is perfect, just run at night and youll be fine. Get a cooltube or vented hood that has intake and exhaust and push air through it with inline fans. Exhausting heat out of the closest is also important via boosted air. At home depot they have all kinds of 8 to 6 to 4 inch reducers and splitters but try not to reduce or split. You breakers will be fine if the 1000w is a digi.
Ok thanks everyone for your input i think i will try it all out. I will try with just the four inch inline and hopefully another exhaust up top... u said try no to use reducers? Isnt that the only way when using a 8 inch to a 4 inch. I will start finishing the closet doors/mylar hopefully tomorrow. Then start w. The fans. .
