600Watt, LED, DWC, 3x3ft SGROG

Discussion in 'Hydroponic Grow Journals' started by NWSquatch, Sep 16, 2018.

  1. Well this is it, my dry spell breaker. I haven't grown indoors for nearly five years. However this will be my first ever LED and DWC grow. So im excited to learn and try somthing new.. So let me share the basic details.

-Bubba Kush CBD strain by Dinafem. Germinated on 9/12/16
-18 gallon reservoir w GH dual diaphram 4 port air pump + drip ring
    - GH trio + calimagic and hydroguard
    -3x3x6ft tent
-600watt maxsisun LED (225watt actual draw)

The seed germinated quickly and is already taking off. Right out of the gate though ive been struggling to manage my ph levels. They have fluctuated alot. I run tap water, but my tap water is very clean around 20ppm. I bumped it up to about 100ppm for the seedling in hopes it would hold ph level better. This didnt seem to help. I ph my water at around 5.8 and soaked my hydroton at 6.0.
After the first check of my ph it had jumped to 6.8. I adjusted down to 5.5. found it at 6.5. adjusted once again down to 5.9.. so i will check again tomorrow.

I intend to do some LSTing, topping and possibly super cropping this plant as low as possible to fill in a 3x3 net. Hopefully this indica plant will stretch ok! Will post some pics soon.

  2. Welcome back to the game. I know you’re excited to get things going, and I’m excited for you. But that light will leave you disappointed. There isn’t enough wattage to properly flower your space and the quality of the light is suspect. I’d recommend quantum board LED lighting or HPS. The blurples just suck for anything but supplemental light.

  3. 4- qb132’s would be perfect for your space but they are always selling out on amazon.

  4. Yea i was considering buying another maxsisun before i get to flower. I may just buy a qb though im not sure.

  5. I wouldn’t buy anymore blurples. The quantum boards are really the best thing going at the moment

  6. Looking good man! You running those QBs at 3500k the whole grow? Also im trying to avoid HPS to manage temps better. But i do have some laying around if all else fails.

  7. I just converted from HPS. Always pulled great crops with it but this summers heat was too much. I have a 3000k over the 2x4 organic scrog area and a 3000k and a 4000k over my drain to waste flower table

  8. I have a seperate veg area with fluorescents.

  9. oh very nice. Think i may get the QB and combine it with the Blurple come flower time. perhaps a 3000k

  10. I considered the superthrive. But i really wanna keep it minimal so i really considered the essentials. Considering some late flowering enhancers like blueberry flavoring extract and bud igniter.

  11. If you’re into cheap, I use Flower Fuel. It’s on amazon for like $18. Just go 1/2 strength, maybe 1/4 for a week then to 1/2. It’s strong stuff. You can test a full dose mid to late Flower but back it off 1/2 if the tips show any burn

  12. Having odd ph jumps still..

-PHd to 5.5 and found it at 7 24 hours later. It has done this several times in the same water.
-I PHd tap water to 4.2 and let sit for two days on its own. Than tested it again. it was the same..
-Using GH trio + calmag and hydroguard
-ppm at 145 and now up to 171. No water consumption as it is a little seedling.
-Using tap water. 25ppm out of the tap. 7.8PH out of the tap
    -res water temp 68f
-res is about 5 gallons of water. in an 18gallon tote
    -Room temp 72-75f

  13. Ok you smelly stoners.. Update..

Ph still jumping. Did a res change and Adjusted to 5.5 and exactly 24 hours later is at 7.2.. Wow.. And a 10ppm jump. And close to zero water consumption. Only 5 or 6 long roots coming out of basket but is growing just fine..

Im figuring it must be too early to really get any consistent results as not much is happening as far as consumption goes..

Either that or... Its this "store brand" PH down i am using. They said at the hydro shop its the same shit is GH PH down. I guess we shall see.. Once i get a good amount of water consuption going on, and my nutes dialed in, if the PH still swings ill by GH PH..

-Room temps average about 76 and occasionally 80.
-Water temp still around 67 or 68..
    -ph set usually at 5.5
-ppm set at 172 (jumped to 180 over night)

Also i took the advice and ordered a QB board. Which i will use in flower. Its a 2700k 135watt actual. 20180928_203001.jpg 20180928_203102.jpg 20180928_203242.jpg

  14. Starting to actually consume water and ppm. Got it close to dialed in, PPM dropped about 20 ppm in 3 days. PH still jumping but less now.

Today (day 22) I topped the plant aswell as did a res change. Some leaves were looking a little warped. And one even had a small hole in it. Probably no big deal. I was out of town for 3 days and the PH was at 6.8 when i got back.

    Pics below

  15. Got some new toys in the mail. A one size fits all scrog net. And some soft ties for lst... Also got 100 little eyelet screws. Im going to screw them into the reservoir lid and anchor to them. I have been trying to figure the best way to lst. Thats what i came up with. How do you all do it? 20181011_112546.jpg 1539282698798.jpg

  16. Had a mishap. Lower shoots were out growing the toped section so i went to lst the lowers down a bit and broke one clean off.. Hopefully the plant wont stress too hard over it.. 20181012_195333.jpg 1539399419929.jpg

  17. Rez change day. Ph 5.6 ppm 618.. Seems to be taking off well despite the mishap. The two new mains grew over an inch in one day..

Did a bit more lst. Those fan leaves are huge and blocking some good spots. Also installed my new trellis i got in the mail the squares are much larger than i had hoped for.. 20181015_202306.jpg 20181015_201500.jpg 20181015_201457.jpg 20181015_201056.jpg
