5'x5'x6.5' grow tent

  1. So we are building a house and I wanna get my plants started like now before my grow room is finished. So I'm going with a 5'x5'x6.5' grow tent that I'm just gonna pop up in my current room.

The big question is lighting. I want T5 Ho fixtures for supplementary lighting in my room so that's what I'm going to start with in this tent.

I figured it at 54 watts per bulb, with the space in the tent I figured around 1500watts total is what I would be running for veg and bloom. Is this overkill for this tent? Would just 1000watts be ok or the more the better?

  2. If you can keep temps under control. you really cant have to much light IMO.

I didn't think so, you have any idea how much average yield is per watt on a t5 ho?

  4. There is a point of too much actually, and when you lower your light close enough even though it does not burn your hand like a cool tube. You can still bleach your plants, because there is a limit to how many lumens a plant can take to keep it simple, anything after that is converted to heat and burns the plant or extracts the chlorophyll and replaces it with negative ions (heat damage). 1500W will work well in the space given, just keep those temps under control. i could see some expensive venting for alot of watts in a small space. 1000w i believe covers a 4.5x4.5 Area, but thats HID with alot more lumens. you should be good at around 1200W if thats possible to run? if not try the 1500, and see what temps are, if its all thumbs up = :smoking:

  5. I know your right but with T5's?I doubt that.

  6. i as well, and i do not know to much about t5's but i did have a nice $300 one for my 55g salt water fish tank with a 150w hps (irrelevant). But the t5 could run hot and i dont think it was any where near 1500W. W/e just turn it on and measure it for a day. Let us know, always wanna learn, even the shit I dont got. :bongin:

  7. My 4 bulb 2ft T5 runs just as Hott as my 150w hps in open air, and my advanced led ds100

  8. its what i figured, Lights burn so many lumens with the gas is burning, everything else to make up for the wattage is turned into heat...i dont care what kind of bulb you got...if you ran 1000 true watts of cfl...thats pretty fuckin hot i bet in a tent.

Damn really? The light fixtures have cool tubes.

  10. I think I decided on three four foot eight lamp t5ho by flourogrow at 54 watts per bulb or should be around 1200 watts and 120,000 lumens. I'm running cool tubes and probably a stand-alone ac unit. I only wanna buy stuff I can use in my room and I wanna start with t5's and learn them cause I will be using them as supplemental lighting in future grows. The tent I'm buying is a cheap ol' Chinese made tent I'm gonna reinforce it but really don't plan on it being a permanent thing. I have seen a lot of poeple learn to maximize their grow in these tennts.

    Cool tubes?

4" vent ports idk why I said cool tubes you can hook an inline fan to them I decided just to go with the mother keeper by agromax and I'm putting a flourogrow 4' 8lamp fixture in it with all the vent ports temp shouldn't be an issue.

If your going t5 get two zoo med flora suns which you can use throughout the whole grow, I wouldn't go t5 without them anymore and also a zoo med super actinic 420nm which you use in veg and the last week in flower

I've been doing a lot of reading and I'm just going with hps/mh you seem to get better buds and in order to get the light equivalent of one 400w I need an 8 lamp t5. Which would take up a lot of space

Ok so one more question would two metal halides for veg be better than one mh and one hps and same vice versa would two hps be better for flower than one of each? I'm getting digital ballasts so I can run either.

Also before I buy these I was getting two 400 w I think ill get the best coverage that way, should I just get a 600 or 1000?

The reason I was going with two 400 is cause I can get them for a little cheaper than a 1000w

2 hps in flower will give you better yield but 1 hps and 1 mh will give you superb quality I believe it's called dual arc

Dual arc bulbs are 1000w hps bulbs with a mh fillament in it as well I was just thinking of running both through the first grow just to see what I get

  19. There is no need to use this. They make HPS bulbs now with red,and blue spectrum.MH bulbs are obsolete.

  20. Yea I didn't know I looked into it but it isn't worth it IMO
