Alrighty, I'll be coming into a few bucks here soon, and wanted to get an led light. Been doing a lot of research but still can't decide. Should I go for a solarflare 200w or two blackstar 240 (2013 model)? I've read reviews and grow journals but when people compare some led's, they compare the ones way out of my price range. So please someone help sway me one way or the other, unless you think there is a better option than what I've posted. Remember, 500 give or take a few bucks. And thanks ahead of time for your guys help. Oh, setup will be 3x3x8 (possibly 4x4x8 if need be) and a dwc/bubbleponics, if that helps any. Just trying to veg and flower 4 plants at a time

  2. And I know an hid light would be better for overall whatnot, but I don't want to have to deal with heat issues and a cranky wife (electricity bill) but on a side note, would two 250 hps do good for 4 plants with electricity and heat? Or maybe a dimmable digital ballast of 400 or 600 for four plants? I just really want to optimize the setup. Hoping to set up once and not have to mess with it fir a really long time. I'm sort of a stickler for things not changing all the time lol

  3. my buddy with 5 kids and no job grows with those lightbulbs above your head and his stuff turned out better then mine,i use a 600 watt in a 2x2x6,he uses 8, 26 watt  cfl's and 2 13 watt cfl's and 1 4 foot 2 bulb office type lighting unit which add's another 100 watt's or so

he has mites, i do not
he gets pm more often then i do
he has kids, i do not
he has no money to buy anything and would rather make everything himself using diy and junk he finds around dumpter's and whatnot,i spent just under 1500,

He has been doing it for a decade.i just started 3 years ago.his medicine was more potent and better tasting, mine was massive more denser but that's where the good ends.

he knows what he's doing im still learning ,first succsesfull crop for me came after listening to him and reading here for the past two years.my first 6 failed harvest's with him giving me directions and with me reading here(blackthumb)but now it's gotten alot better im actually been smoking on my own stuff for a month and a half now

  4. Yeah, I figured even with led I would still have to throw in supplemental cfl lighting. I'm a diy'er cause of the money saved, and it's fun. It's still a strong debate between the 400 hps and a couple blackstar panels. The 400 sure is a hell of a lot cheaper, which I like. I'll have to look into how just one blackstar 240 in a 3x3 compared to the 400. Can make my box as tall as 8 feet, so with mediocre ventilation could probably keep temps ok with 400?

  5. For 599 you could get the 400w California light work's solar flair. With their buy back program.

    I use advancedLED diamond series.
    I rate them at 5/5

Just grew 2oz from one plant with only the 100w light.

They have good customer service & coupons for a deal if u ask.

California lightworks are great too from what u have seen. Bu I have never used one yet.

Good luck on your search and all

  6. But if you are broke go for a cfl array say 3-4 bulbs per plant is cheap, but 4 ft T5's (HOT5) do it with class and style, but then again for grunt use a 600wHPS, jury is still out on Leds but the Solar Flare, will be seen as a rich guys toy .....all are good for specific types of grows, thinking we are heading to winter, you may want to conceal your power usage for some reason, that may well be cfl, T5 or the LED ...?
