5 month old plant not showing sex!

  1. As the title states, I have an outdoor plant (70% sativa, 30% indica) growing outdoors and it has just hit 5 months since popping up through soil and still not showing its private parts which is really strange. It is growing in a 20L pot (no way roots are near filling the pot yet either)
I would consider the plant as mature as it is 3.5ft tall, and has been alternating nodal growth for a while now.
I expect maybe not a male as from experience they show much earlier outdoors then females.

Otherwise the plant is healthy and doing well with minimal maintenance :)
Is it just a matter of "it will flower when it flowers" kind of deal?
    Thanks!

  2. For photo-sensitive (regular) plants, its up to the light schedule; if its too much light, then it will keep vegging. Generally, 18hr lights will promote veg.
You maybe want to try smaller autos (instead of photo/reg types) if you want a time-schedule, as these take ~3months start to finish.

  3. I thought plant maturity was a contributor to showing sex - I guess that ain't always the case!
I have no issue with large plants luckily - I just worried 6 months in it will be a male

  4. Usually only the 30 days before and after Summer Solstice (60 days) is your veg window outside. If your in the southern hemisphere your just 2 weeks into flower light and it may take another week of so for the sex to really show true.

Look for early dangling balls ( flowers ) as the Males often can be identified as this one was while still in veg mode.

Make sure you don't have a porch, yard, street or other light source holding the plant in veg.

  7. Update: Still no signs of sex 13 days on. This is really getting worrying at this stage as its 2+ months after the equinox (days getting shorter now) and as sativa dominant wont finish flower till the cold days come (maybe even frost):wacko:
The other plant of the same geno showed signs of sex about 2 months ago (was a hermie - gross)
I will post another update in a couple of weeks, or when it finally shows.

  8. Pull out whatever phone you have, go to the weather app. Look at the sunrise time, then look at the sunset time. For today. Measure the time between those two separate times. If it is higher than 12 hours pick a date in your head that is a few weeks from now and google sun rise and sunset times on a specific day. Count the time between them. Figure out when your outdoor environment is going to start “12/12” if it’s in a month or so still, go get a big tarp and some stakes or some black bags and cover the plant up every 12 hours take the cover off every twelve hours if you work an 9-5 take the bag off at six in the morning, put the bag back on at six at night, this way you can transition your plant into flowering before the season comes and you can hit flower season running. Don’t fuck it up and miss schedule. This way u can see your sex. I wouldn’t recommend transitioning a plant into flower further than a month out as growing in a bag, or under confinement with no new air even at night probably isn’t the best. Good luck brody

  9. UPDATE - We have white hairs appearing! Finally after all this wait I got a breeder. :inlove:
If anyone is interested the strain is (supposedly) mullumbimby madness (I might post some pics here towards end of flower)

  10. Wait so you are advanced enough to breed plants - yet you were worried about the sex of this plant????lol

  11. Yes, waiting 6 months for it to be a male would have been time wasted.
You don't need a PHD to breed plants. You put daddys pollen on the mummy parts and.... magic happens.
Welcome to the newbie part of the forum, you should take your opinion elsewhere :thankyou:

  12. Okay the males show first. As you saw that one plant that you posted. The females take their sweet little time . If these things are over 5 weeks old I'm sure they're females are pretty most of them at least

  13. Your safe space is over there in the corner - males always show fast bro

  14. You don’t need knowledge to make seeds, I agree, but most people saying breeding* are referring to “selective breeding”. To witch having knowledge makes chasing specific traits an option, with out the knowledge it is strictly trial and error and you hope you learn the way the ancestors did
