Hey... my seedlings are 5 days old.. and 1 off them has 3 roots coming out of 3 holes on the bottom of the cup... I know they are too young to be transplanted but what do I do?... the way I have it is... One 16oz transparent cup inside one 16oz red opaque cup... when they are stacked ontop of each other, there is about 1cm cap between the 2 cups on the bottom the transparent cup is the only one with holes. the opaque cup collects some of the drippings, and it pools up in that 1cm gap i was talking about but what do I do about this?... this cant be safe for the plants i was thinking of finding some pieces of perlite and plugging the holes up... before the roots start coming out even further. let me know... thank you
They are not too young to be transplanted. If you let those root continue to grow like that you'll have even bigger problems than some slow growth for a few days because of a transplant. Get those babies out of the dixie cup and into a pot. Wouldn't you hate to be cooped up in a cup all day?
yea... I understand but I was under the impression that dixie cups were for the first 2 weeks or so right?... I mean.. I see people with MUCH bigger plants inside dixie cups... I thought the root problem was because of my double stacking idea... the roots found water in that tiny chamber and went for it. i got the transparent cups so I can see how the roots were growing and according to the view... there isnt much root activity going anywhere except all the way at the bottom if i need to transplant.. then I will...but they are only 5 days... still really delicate.
I don't think so. ; ) If you aren't going to LST and I'm not I would HIGHLY recommend this journal... http://forum.grasscity.com/indoor-grow-journals/424355-machineless-white-russian-2009-a.html I'm going to try and replicate it or as much as I can. Slightly different lighting to start though. 4 WW Fem just popped the soil today, 100% germ rate!
Slowly turn the clear cup upside down in your hand, lift the clear cup up and off. Install an opaque cup in it's place. Flip the cup back over right side up, done.
