I'm thinking of getting a 4x2 grow tent. What kind of light would be good for a tent that size? Watts? Thanks!
Veg tent? T-5 lighting, comes in 2x4 sizes. Flowering tent? 600w will cover a 4x4 area, so you'd be wasting 8 sq ft of potential growth. 400w covers a 3x3 area, so it will be a little weak at the edges while still wasting a bit of potential being limited to 2' wide. 250w hps covers 2x2 so you'd get excellent coverage with 2 of them but it's not cost-effective. My grow is a rectangular 4x8 and I use 2 lights (600w) for best coverage. I also grow in a 2x2x4 with a 250w. I don't grow with cfl past the seedling and clone stage because of how inefficient they are (I love efficiency, if you couldn't tell), but they can be configured for any dimensions and used for supplemental lighting.
Like I said, 600w is as high as I'd go on the wattage in that tent. Found this on google... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cDbdnncDHC0
Hey. Depends on a few things. Ventilation being a main factor. Unless you plan on air cooling anything over 400w will soon become to much for that space. In a previous grow I used a 1.2 x 1.2 x 1.8 tent and had x2 600w hps side by side in air cooled hoods and never had a problem. If heat is an issue then T5s, CFLs or LEDs. http://forum.grasscity.com/indoor-grow-journals/1226594-1800w-jack-herer-cocoponics-wilma-bigs-everyone-welcome.html
