Dude, that room you posted, I could die in that room but, that would be extremely rude. The room above, however, I think death is a predictable outcome...

  5. Gotta get them dry to have a starting point. The indications of overwatering are all over the board.

I over watered the hell out of my first grow for the same reason, no drainage or not enough holes, plus my soil sucked and held water. That's the beginning of when my soil plan started to take root. Now its easy to keep up with "if" they need to be watered to not.

  6. I checked in on the girls this morning before leaving for work, as usual.

I lowered the lights last night to about 2' above the plants. Apparently, JH liked that a lot! She started praying to the QB light deity and her earrings slipped down like a girl's dress on prom night. :geek: I have to fix her when I get home today...

  7. I received my solenoid valve and float valve today. I hooked them up to test and they're gonna work great together!

No more stupid old stoner tricks of leaving the water running and overfilling the barrel all night long, wasting water all over the garage floor. Well, as soon as I hooked it up... That's my weekend project! ;)

  8. Have you ever figured out what your total cost per grow really is?

I just got our electric bill that reflects the change since this grow started. It went from $120 to $265. January and February have been our coldest months so far this year so heat was definitely a big player with a couple thousand watts. There is a variable with heaters and AC and other items, I'm sure due to their use at specific times of the year in relation to outdoor temp and RH variations. Other months, coming up won't be as expensive. I guesstimate it would average out to be more like $130 per month.

So, if my grow lasts 10 weeks in veg and another 10 to 12 weeks in flower, that's approximately 4 and a half months. My cost is roughly $455 + cost of nutes and water so, maybe $500 + my time? Seems pretty reasonable to me.

New pics coming soon. They're looking great! Even the freak. :)

  9. I think we're at veg day 6 of 70.

A few things since last post, both the LHZ freak and the PYC received their first mainline cut on Saturday. Also, the 2nd LHZ seed broke ground today. :)

Lights are all at 32" +/- 2" above their respective plant. I gave each plant a healthy top cover of diatomaceous earth; both as a nutrient and a pest preventive measure.

Tonight, the four received the usual Cal-Mag / Big Bloom mix but with additional N, K and P from FF Grow Big and Tiger Bloom.

The new kid got pH'd water with Big Bloom.

The LHZ is still a little odd with one long and one short leg but, she's doing alright otherwise.

  10. Last nights pics showed the girls looking a little droopy. After watering and a night of laying in the QB sun, they're rather perky in comparison this morning. I think I'm waiting too long to water them. They're drinking more that I had though right now.

  14. I have a new 30 gallon barrel arriving today and the barrel heater that fits it will arrive in a few more days. It will look something like this:

I have everything but the water pump to make the vortex aeration system in it. I need to get that ordered.

I also have everything now to automate keeping the barrel full without overflowing. I didn't get to it last weekend but it's on for the coming one!

I still have 2.5 scrogs to finish netting...

All the pieces are coming together!

Who knew being a grower involved so much... I love it. Gives me plenty to do and keeps me interested.

  15. Not much going on tonight but the standard tweaks and peaks and pic updates. I removed the two lowest leaves touching the ground on JH and MHM. Adjusted the metal rings I'm using to hold out their arms on each plant to build the pipes to support the beasts I'm looking to create. MHM and JH are each working on their 4th and 5th nodes. Time to start growingprimary nodes 1 and 3 out to the sides.2 and 4 will be removed soon.

One week ago I took the tops off of the JH and MHM just above the 3rd node to start their manifold process.

My wife put the JH top in a little water and set it in the bathroom that same day. Here is that top this morning.

It's just starting to show signs of deficiencies since it only got RO water and nothing else. Lol, I'm surprised and amazed it looks this good only receiving about an hour of room light per day.
