some old lady told me that if you give your plants 48 hours of darkness it will make your plants to start flowering faster and that you can save up to a week, doest it work???will it make a diference in the final yield??thanks
I've heard of doing this in the last 48 hours so that they drain all the clorophyl out of themselves but I don't think it would do them much good any other time
I usually give 24 hours between switching from 18/6 to 12/12. Seems to get rid of that week long lag period.
ive never heard of putting them into 48 hours of darkness just to get them to flower faster but alot of us do it right before chopping to increase last minute trichome production
in the last week of flowering i reduce light hrs to 14 (decrease timer 1/2 hr a day til 14/10) give em' 24 hrs in dark, then start em' 10/14 and add a 1/2 hr every 2 daze til 12/12 --- decrease to 10/14 ....48 hrs of dark AND COOL ..... yuo'll be pleased with the out come ...... it sounds like a bit more but to me it really makes a better bud..... REDUCE light hours 1/2 hr each day for 7 days .... = 14 hrs of light lights out for 24 hrs lights on for 10 hrs off for 14 for 2 daze lights on for 10.5 0ff for 13.5 for 2 daze lights on for 11 off for 13 for 2 daze lights on for 11.5 off for 12.5 for 2 daze finally lights on for 12 off for 12 ..... until last 9 daze reduce light hrs 1/2 hr each day for 7 daze then lights out for 48 hrs with temps down into the high 50's....... the light hrs changing worries some ... fear of herms or somthin' ... but it packs em' up in the dark .... the cool temps increase trich production heavily...
Maybe I'm thick or stoned or something. Could you re write that making it clear which is light and which is darK? reduce light to 14 hours? from what? I'm lost.
from your growth hours??>>>...you reduce them to induce flowering... oops i meant growth in the first post but put flowering..
an eaiser way is to ..... yes 48 hrs of dark from whatever the hell hrs seems to excelerate flowering ... and the cold has been proven to enhance trichome production.... if you have a small garden i guess its alright to play mothernature n "simulate light hrs " like that ....
Longer nights at the beginning of flowering will induce faster sexing. Instead of going to 12/12, go to 18 dark and 6 light for the first three or four days and you should be able to sex them. There is no need to turn the lights out for 48 straight hours and it might be harmful to the plants, make hermies or who knows what. Pigailia
I have been growing outdoors in Canada for 30 years. Plants are growing in 20 gallon containers. Total darkness for 48 hours works. Been doing it for 28. years. I do it starting end of June....when summer solstice begins. Never hermied. Harvest buds from mid to late October....sometimes up to mid November. Have a small greenhouse where they live out their lives...move them in there near end of September all depending on fall weather.
