This! The divison sign means the number before it represents to top dot (ie the numerator) and the number after it is the denominator. Hence 48 = 48 = 2 2(12) 24 See above.
It's still ambiguous... Here is a proof showing the answer is 2: "Let's take what we know here and just say that x=9" 48/2(x+3) = 2 48/(2x+6) = 2 4x = 36 x = 9 This is why anyone who knows even a modicum of maths doesn't use division signs.
