http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GEq02XUxVOw Just let the beautiful sounds wrap around you. It's such a full and complex texture, played by one of the guitar greats, Pat Metheny.
Matheny's a genius. To be able to play shit like that and the stuff he plays on records like question and answer is unreal. Cool video.
The guitar is called the 'pikaso' guitar. There are only two in existence to my knowledge, and they aren't quite the same. Metheny asked to have a guitar with as many strings as possible, and thats what he got. I'd love to tune it since i have perfect pitch and it would be an honour to do anything for metheny. He is a god of guitar players. His duet album with brad meldau is amazing. He even plays this thing on several of his albums, but i havent heard em yet. The thing is under 1000 lbs of string tension. Pretty good. If you listen you can tell that many of the strings used aren't completely in tune. Some of them start out sharp after plucking and only fall into tune as they resonate. It's used to add timbre and color to the overall sound. Listen to the very last note. The two notes in octaves are not in tune and it sounds marvelous and interesting because of it.
