My local supermarket only sells 4100k and 2700k. I know 6500k is best for veg but i can only get 4100k. i don't want people replying with the usual '4100k isn't that good get 6500k' i want people who have used 4100k in the past to tell me if it works and what problems the plants have under 4100k.
You give very little info on the grow you're planning, so I assume you're starting with seeds instead of clones. In order to flower, the seed needs somekind of a vegetation periode in which 6500K light is the most useful. Lots of strains nowadays you can put almost right after germination in flower, but it is adviced to wait until it has grown 3-5 nodes. I think it will work, but I wouldn't expect a great yield, not in quantity nor in quality. Everything comes with a certain price I guess. Good luck sir!
They just waste more light man... thats the simple science answer. More of the lumens the CFL puts out are going to be in the 500 - 600nm range and will be wasted on your plants. that being said, its really an over weighted/talked about issue with weed growing. Other indoor veggies no one ever mentions it lol. what i mean is that It will work fine. Your plants will basically be getting slightly less useful lumens to the leaves per watt you throw at them, but this can all be made up for with extra bulbs. Just get a few more than you expected to and it will all be fine. esp for veg. Worst case scenario it takes a few days longer to grow. BUT... you will be wasting power and buying more bulbs than necessary... you cant find a home depot to get the right stuff? 6500k bulbs are by no means rare. Just check a different store lol.
