400W MH / HPS for seedlings?

Discussion in 'Growing Marijuana Indoors' started by thaherbalist, Nov 14, 2013.

  1. Would it be OK to use a 400w MH bulb or a 400W HPS bulb? I have both but which would be better to start my seeds under? I don't have enough cash to but anything else because I have spent all my budget now.

    Help greatly appreciated!

Ahaha its ok man ;) but how far should my MH be from my seedlings? they are both autos and will be started in a 10 liter container of John innes sapling soil mixed with 50% perlite and a small measurement of bat shit

  5. ah ok sounds good, I have a small temp strip on my grow room wall around where the plants will be when growth starts and I tested and its at 73 - 79F would that be fine? and thats at around 23" above the plant [My ventilation system is very weak :L]

you tested it with the light on? if so, that's perfect range. if not, do so now, b4 you start anything. get it dialed in b4 planting, so ur not wasting time

Yeah i tested both, The MH ran for 2 hours generated 73F / 75F and the HPS ran for 2 hours generated 79F also peaking to 80F.

I ran a clip on hydro fan too of course when testing.
