400 watt hps to MH

  1. Is it true u can put a 400 watt Mh bulb in a HPS ballast i have a hps ballast and if this is true im gunna get on that
     
  2. It is true you can put a MH lamp in a HPS ballast (but not visa versa) However, be aware that the MH lamp will only run at about 70-80% of its potential lumen output. Not really enough to bitch about for the veg cycle, so go for it! Hope this helps. Peace.
     
  3. kk thanks...i heard that if you do this it will ruinn your ballast or friy your ignitor?
     
  4. No it just might shorten the life of your ballast overall though. No fire hazards or anything though....
     
  5. there are some conversion bulbs out there as well. they may be more eficient.
     
  6. definatly,,,use the conversion ,,,bulb or you risk ruining your system,, i too have a 400 hps,,, the sunmaster conv. bulb is what i use,,,,go to,,,,discount hydro.com ,,,,,they have a excellent selection of bulbs,,,,,,hope it helps,,,,,,later.....:smoking:
