4X4 tent 440 cfm inline fan 400 watt hps cool tube Clip on fan Looking to add a second light to this new tent. Just upgraded from a DR80, that will be housing my mothers now. Looking to yield as close to a lb as I can. Want to Scrog thia grow around. I can get a 600 watt as cheap as I can get a 400 watt. But can not afford to get 2 new 600watts. So it's just a one light upgrade. Have to keep my 400 watt. Do you see a problem growing with 1 400 watt and 1 600 watt hps? As opposed to 2 400w
i'd think it would be better just to grab another 400w to keep the light even across the grow room. Key for big yields is to keep the canopy as even as possible. You can always keep your 400w's and move them to veg later on if they can run MH bulbs. But this is just my personal opinion.
4' x 4' footprint is great for a 400 w cooltube. I have 4' x 3'. I veg under a 400w, bloom under a 600w.
4x4 = 16 400/16 = 25watts per SQFT You are looking for ideally 50w or more per SQFT 800/16 = 50watts per SQFT for me i got a 6x4 area so 6ft x 4ft = 24ft i got two 600w HPS so 1200/24 = 50watts per SQFT
Would a 600 watt in a 4x4 scrogged yield good results. I'm thinking of putting a 600 I one tent and scrogging 6 plants and putting the 400 in my old DR80 tent and scrogging one massive plant in a 10 gallo pot. Really hard to decide what to do as I want to use all my old equipment while picking up a new tent and light. I'm thinking the 2 400 watts is my best bet. Grab MH bulbs for veg and keep my hps for flowering.
a 600w in a 4x4 would yield well for you. but personally i'd keep one tent for veg one for flowering, that way harvests are roughly every 2 months. I re-read your original post again and i missed the fact you only have one light and two tents. i personally then get the 400w a MH Bulb and veg in one tent with it and pick up a 600w HPS for flowering in a different tent.

Only problem is I will be scrogging and won't have the ability to move them to a new tent after vegging. Probably just veg and flower in the same tent but one using a 400w the other a 600w. One with 2 plants in 10 gals the other with 6 in 5 gals. Something like that.
Yea I could. I've been growing that way getting about 2 - 2.25 oz a plant. I'm aiming higher this run, so Im going with scrog
