First time growing. These were four seeds from a collection. Any tips, advice, information about potential strains is greatly appreciated. This is 5 days from planting in soil. Goals: Learn about the growth cycle. Due to a lack of direct light I'm going to move them to a closet with dimensions of 10*2*8.
Unless you can tell us the collection your ordered them from, there is no possible way to guess a strain. You cannot tell by looking at a plant. Every different seed can have slightly different characteristics (or phenos) from the same mother plant. That's what makes this so fun, and why many people keep a strain going for years (by cloning) to keep certain phenos they have found.
If growing in a closet with those dims, I would suggest 3 gallon fabric pots for your first run, or it may be difficult for you to properly train them on your first go at it. JMO since you don't know strains or even if indica/sativa. There will be a learning curve, but rest assured there is plenty of info and good folks here. You can find anything you need to know if you just look or ask.
Canibis said it.. there is no way possible to tell what strain it is by looking at a seed or plant. The only way is to get a phylos test done and they can tell you the parental genetics assuming they are in their database.. needless to say this kind of test is a little out of reach/expensive for the casual grower..
I primarily smoked Sativa so I am thinking that's what they most likely are. I can clearly remember getting seeds from Blue Dream, Super Silver Haze, and Professor Chaos. I still have 12 seeds in my collection. But like you all said, no way of knowing. I agree with the lanky comment about the stem. The bulbs I'm using were pulled from my bathroom...talk about a budget to start. As far as the amount of plants for the closet (4) was what I was thinking max. I'm really interested in investing in a quality light though, and really like the lights from Electric Sky. What do you guys think? I know it's my first time but yield is important. I like 2 to 4 grams a day. My plan is to grow year-round.
