I'm not an expert by any means, but halogens are not the way to go. If that is your ONLY option then be careful managing the heat produced by the halogens, and keep them farther away from the plants. In general not a good way to grow.
If im not mistaken, Halogens arent a good choice for plant growth. Go with a few CFL's or if you are so inclined, a HPS or MH system.
hey, im also totally new to all this, but from my last month of studying you want to get at the very least is a flourescent light. I got one like 3 days ago all for like $20 with the bulbs. You are going to however need to invest sooner or later to a HPS system. GoodLuck, RU
