I'm pretty new to this, but I have spent a few hours researching and have had some feedback in other threads. I have bought a reflector 3 NYC sour diesel autoflowering seeds and a 300w red spectrum cfl bulb pretty cheap online, but previous feedback suggests that my red spectrum bulb isn't ideal for the first few weeks of my seeds sprouting. If I germinate all 3 seeds, and put them under say a 125w blue spectrum bulb for the first 3 or 4 weeks then swap to my 300w red cfl bulb will this have any adverse effects on my plants?
they say blue(mh) is better for vegging and the red(hps) is better for flowering. im no expert by any means, and personally i have no idea whether one is actually better than the other for particular stages in growth, that just seems to be the most common thing i have seen around
With cfl, I would use both through the entire grow if possible. The plants will be happy for the extra light and more varied spectrum. More red in veg will result in more distance between nodes compared to a blue bulb of the same wattage. Either will grow plants if you have enough light.
