well my grow area is 3.5x4.5 8feet tall would it be better to go with a 1000 watt hps/MH light or get 2 400 watt hps ? I have a 400 watt mh light allready i was thinking 2 400 watt hps lights with my 400watt MH in the middle I am going to get my stuff from htg suply are they a good company they seem to have great prices and they say they ship discreatly (that is a must bc am having it shiped to my house)
I would go with the 2 watt hps and 1 400 mh. You will get a great sprectrum that way, and it will be be more wattage that's spread out more evenly to all the plants.
Go for the 3 400's because you can space them more evenly around the room. Wth a 1 1000 light you can only really keep it in one place unless you have a light mover. Even then you have to constantly go in and move the light around. I like dexorated's spectrum switching idea as well.
2 600s.. look at hte lumen output per watt.. its the highest.. this should be common knowledge by now
that alot of wattage and subsequent heat for a relativley small room. make sure you have ventilation thought out.
was pretty last night hence the quick response.. heres a lumen output for what your talking about. 3 X 400w ~150k lumens 1 x 1000w ~ 135k lumens 2 x 600w ~ 190k luemns not perfect numbers as i didnt look them up.. but i have been lately.. =p . just rounded
Yeah those numbers are about right HerbnGrower. He would need major exhaust in that room with 2 600's. I think one 600 with a strong exhaust plan would be good for that room.
I have a 600 hps switchable from HTG and they are great. Don't skimp go digital balast. Trust me.... My room is the same size and you better have kick ass ventilation if you get more than that. I have to keep the light two feet or better off the plants. 95,000 lumens is hard to argue with.
Hey BongMaker, you running that with a cooled ballast or open? I've been eyeing the 600w digital air cooled one from HTG...430 bucks is a hit in the wallet, but I'm sure it's worth it. What are your temps if you don't mind my asking. I've got similar dimensions for a closet.
