2nd grow, little buds....help!

Discussion in 'Growing Marijuana Indoors' started by janedoeseeds, Apr 16, 2018.

  1. This is my 2nd indoor hydro DWC grow. I'm using auto seeds, indica strains all females. I use vivid grow lights, (see picture) Dyno grow veg and flower formulas and I do have some Cal-mag I've hit it with a few times. I only have a few weeks left in the cycle and my buds just aren't that big....I bought Beastie Budz and added that a few weeks ago.
My first grow my buds got bigger, (they were NOT autoseeds, they were full term seeds) but not by a lot. I know the autoseeds will not produce as much, but I still feel like these just aren't getting as fat as they should. I also have some color drainage on the leaves and can't tell if it's a lock out of some kind.
I also have some confusion on PPM....from what I've read online I haven't gone over 700....reading the Fox Farms feeding schedule it goes up to 1600....so now I'm wondering if I'm not feeding them enough?

  2. Looks like deficiency and burn at the same time. Need more info on what nutes are being given.
, pH, trmps. Also looks like they need a lot more light. How many watts do those lights pull? Actual watts.

  4. PH has been between 5.5 and 6.5. I have not tested the water temp. The room temp stays around 70.

  5. I've been growing DWC for a while. If I look at that plant to me it's telling me it has root issues. How do the roots look? Do you really have enough air? Is it possible to increase air or add a second airstone? It's very difficult to have too much. Many people don't run enough and struggle to figure out what the problem is when it's just not enough air the whole time. I'm running two airstones in mine right now.

Some other problems: Your light power is very minimal. Those lights are 16 actual watts each. Looks like you have 4 of them. That's 64 watts total. I'm not sure what else you're using but that is not enough power for good sized colas IMO depending on the square footage of area.

Light power is tied directly to feed rate. A plant that is getting very minimal light power will have a very slow feed rate. I would not increase the PPM. 700 is a good level for bloom. Ignore recommendations from brands. I feed at about half recommended. Sometimes a little less sometimes a little more. I don't think I've ever fed at full recommended strength.

You mentioned the room temp being 70? That's just way too cold. Along with plant growth rate being directly tied to light power it's also directly tied to temp. Plant growth is a complex set of chemical reactions most of which take place faster at higher temps. I run about 82 with leds in my flower side.

I would double or increase the air to the roots. Possibly change the water ph to 6.0 at about 700ppm. Raise the temp to about 78-80 and see how she does.

You need a real grow light. What size space is the footprint of your flower area?

  6. jesus my roots are maybe a quarter of that! I did also buy some Armor Si that is supposed to help with root growth for some seedlings. My tent size is 4x3. I have 2 other lights that dangle by themselves. Vivid gro lights are supposed to be specifically for hydro systems, that's why I tried them.

  7. The temp is so critical for my garden if I have a cold snap like I did last week out of the blue and my room temp drops 5-7 degrees at lights on my feed rate drops over 20%. It doesn't recover until the temps get back up to 80 range and hold there for a few days.
