Hello there, So I decided to give this ole thing a try, again... Just finished getting my set up fixed up, temperatures tested and regulated, seeds germinated, and all ready to go. For now I have: Lights: 2 X 26 Watt CFLs (6500K)=3200 lumens total light output - for vegging 1 X 26 Watt CFL (2700K)=1600 Lumens 1 X 42 Watt CFL (2700K)=2600 Lumens =4200 Lumens total light output - For Budding **I know this seems like not enough light, but keep in mind, I'm doing this grow for fun, for practice, and for myself. I'm not trying to produce big dense buds, just dabbling in a new hobby in horticulture. "Testing the waters" if you will.** I'm using Fox Farm Ocean Forest Soil. Growing my plants in 16 oz. Plastic Party cups, the whole time. * That's right. I'm trying to keep it small. I even plan to switch to budding once they have about 3-5 nodes, and are roughly 4-6" tall, I'm going for small little organic plants, just to get the hang of growing and to give me something to do.* I have mylar(first-aid UV thermal blanket) lining most of my environment, everything except the curtain that blocks the light from my bedroom. Haven't picked up nutes yet, will do that later when I get some monies. I'm broke as hell right now, ees very sayd D': So anyway, the plants are some bagseed I had saved. If all goes well it should turn out nice. The only time I save bagseed is if it's good mids, that I'm lucky enough to find a few seeds in. Also some Thyme, to help with mask pot smell, and to cook with of course :V I currently have the light cycle at 24 on. I will be bringing it back to 18/6 over the course of a few days, but not until they are done germinating and have sprouted. haven't decided if I want to go 12/12 or 10/14 for budding, not sure if 1 is better :/ So that's it. The pictures are of my closet set-up. The 3 bagseed plants are the ones on the left, the Thyme is on the right. none have sprouted yet. Just tonight, the radicles of each seed began breaking through the seed coats. So hopefully the hypocotyl's will break through the soil soon!!
I would like to see what they look like flowered that soon.. especially with your CFL set up.. if you had access to more seeds/clones i would say use the SOG method.. but i understand its a "test the waters" type grow =).. good luck bro
I actually am planning on SOG, gotta go get some chicken wire, my other seeds that I set in the paper towels just hadn't sprouted their root meristems yet, but I just checked and there were 3 more popping out!! So I'm gunna go get 3 more soil cup made and pop those little guys in there. I'll be back later today to report any changes.
Checked my seeds today after class and had several more ready for planting, 5 actually. So that brings the total number of seeds planted and germinating in my box to 11!! Hopefully several of them finish germinating. I'm a little worried about the first few. I don't think I watered the soil enough, and not sure if I got the root tip facing down. :/ But, maybe they'll all be resilient and pull through. My roommate is dabbling in the trade now as well, so some of those that make it will be put in his box. Whatever's left (the ones that won't fit) we're taking out to the local parks and nature preserves to plant, so they might do well on there own. Hopefully we don't get to many more bad cold snaps down here. I guess that's it for now. 5 new additions to the incubator for total of 11 (under 24hours light) and my hopes are high. temps are right at 80F, air is circulating, all is well. I'll keep ya posted for any changes
