My friend from south america has set up as 2 grow tents 2.6 x 2.6 x 6 with 2 parallel (square) chinese QB288v3 LM301H (4000k for veg and 3000k flower as they will be running separately for perpetual purposes). As follows

    1 tent 2.6 x 2.6 x 6 with 240w 2x qb288v3 4000k (parallel fixture not series)
    1 tent 2.6 x 2.6 x 6 with 240w 2x qb288v3 3000k (parallel fixture not series)

These QB run on HLG 240w drivers and they have red spec leds with IR and UV leds as well (on adequate percentage to the 301H white leds)

As I understand these nm ranges are quite experimental, not even to speak of chinese quality (which I am convinced and hopefully will be good haha) I would like to know if it is ok to use the redspec leds/UV and IR on both veg and flower and also pls let me know if you think this light is appropriate for the space.

Also, stealth is a priority so exhausting is on 4in S&P with carbon filter and passive intakes for odor control. Do you think heat will be a problem given the QB will preferably run on 75% or less?

    Thanks!

  2. They don't have a separate switch to turn the uv,IR, ect off during veg so you have to run it all.

What I would recommend is you get a more blue leaning white to balance out all the extra red like 3500k or 4k.

I wouldn't worry. The supplemental leds they have in the UV and IR range are pretty low power and there's only a few. It just helps extend the light spectrum and more replicate the sun. The Sun of course always has UV and IR even in veg. The plants should be fine with it the full cycle.

I don't think heat will be an issue. remember they are passively cooled lights with no fans so if you add a fan blowing on the heatsink it does dramatically increase the cooling effect of the heatsink. I would plan on doing that with a 6" clip on fan in the top of the tent.

240h powered two boards qb led light setups are rated to cover a 3x3 or 2x4 for flower so you're right in the coverage range for square foot.

  3. Thanks, Tbone. Nice and simple. So in this case it would be better to have gone with two 4000k instead of one 3000k and one 4000k? The stuff is already en route as we speak but will save knowledge for next build

  4. You'll be fine with that. I would veg with the 4k until you have to kick in the 3k. That should help. I like the 3500k. It's an option usually at the Chinese board makers. HLG doesn't typically have 3500k in 288 boards but if you look at the spectrum curve of the new Rspec boards it's got a large enough blue spike they must be using 3500 or 4k whites with those.

All my bloom lights are 3500k base white but I have a red strip in there to compensate for my all white boards. In the veg area I use straight white 4k boards.

I use a 4x4 veg and 4x4 bloom area. 4x8 tent split in half.

  5. Nice setup. I actually have read a lot of threads and getting a response from you is highly appreciated. Do you think that for veg I should get supplemental blue to balance the red leds or it will work fine as it is?

  6. Think I’m about to start a similar setup. I’m doing 250w kingbrite v3 in a 2.5 x 2.5. May I ask how many plants you are going to run?

  7. Hi lpr my friends plan is one or two well trained bonsai plants in there

  8. Supplemental blue wouldn't hurt but I would do a crop with the 4k light you have for veg and see how it works. If the red supplements on the boards give you too much stretch then add a blue supplement board. I can help you build a custom one from Rapid led that has at least 3 different blues so it's much wider part of the blue spectrum then most blue strips on the market.

I helped another GC user build one with 3 blue leds 6 of each type. Purpleish, royal blue, and aqua marine. This guy had all 3k lights and wanted to be able to lean them blue for veg. The red strips were built for flower and he also has two qb3 far red boards not in the picture. Those red strips are standard red and deep red like the qb96.

  10. He says Chinese V3's. Most of the v3's on alibaba are UV, white, deep red, and infra red mixed. You get a choice of what white you want. He chose 4k and 3k.

  15. Hey all, sorry as I have been busy with the grow op but I can affirm that the QB are of good quality. Easy assembling and wiring too. Currently 4x fast bud #2 are sprouting and gonna turn on lights over the next week but they will need to be turned down to minimum and kept distant from seedlings as they are REALLY strong.
