250watt 8U CFL Lighting v's 600watt Son-T Super Lighting

  1. I have removed my 600watt bulbs and replaced them with 250watt CFL (Blue) bulbs, will it have the same results and what are peoples views regarding CFL bulbs...?

Which is better for growing plants...?

    OSRAM 600w SON-T SUPER

    250W 8U 6400K E40 CFL

Which of the above bulbs would you use and why..? I have both but someone said the CFL are better if your in an inviroment where less heat is needed.

    Thanks for any replies :hello:

  2. the 600W HPS is a much better light for flowering. I prefer to veg under low wattage CFL's.

Be aware that your looking at about 1/4 of the lumens if you go with the CFL. you wont be able to grow nearly as many plants.

I run a 400W HPS and a 200W CFL, they both get warm but i'd say the HPS gets twice as warm.

  3. Would you ever advise running a CFL then just as flowering starts changing to an HPS...? Or is it to late then...?

  4. as long as the CFL's will cover the floor space you need, I think that is a great idea.

  5. Thanks I'll try it, what have I got to lose...? Apart some bud size...? I have 2 more tents all going right now...;) DR 150's x 3 and getting a new one a DR 200 in a few weeks.

Thanks for the info and I'll let you know how it goes...;)

  6. You will actually be maximizing your bud size. The CFL's will make the plants short and bushy (just what you want) then when you flip to flower the HPS will give the buds maximum light for production (also what you want).

    best of luck :smoking:

  7. Thanks for the info. Now I'm going to make a new thread asking about feeding and nutrients etc. ;)
