250 hps and yield

There are a lot of factors affecting yield like soil, nutes, airflow etc etc... Since I'm new and haven't grown a crop yet I can't really estimate how much you will yield. A qp for one LST'd plant isn't out of the range. But the general rule of thumb that I know of is 1 plant per square foot and 50-75 watts of HID lighting per square foot. Right now I'm starting a similar grow to yours but with just one plant. (space is really tight) Hope this helps.

 

Should be... Not alot of experince with the 250's but just ordered some myself for my herb patch lol... you know if they get any hot? anyone? lol

 

I have one plant in a bucket DWC with grotek 3 part hydro mix lst in full effect and Im using a 250 with a couple 42 cfls supplementing side light. And I am hoping to get 150 to 200 grams yes I have pics and will post a full journal once shes all done.....

 

250watts do get hot anything hps or mh gets pretty hot. I rely on my cool tube very much with my 150w hps

 

I do 4 plants per grow under a 250w, and while that light is OK I have found it helpful to add CFLs in the corners of my box (2 in each corner, 8 in all) which gives me about 200 more watts of additional lighting.

How big is your grow space? To do 4 plants under 250w you need to keep them very close together, the effective footprint for a 250w is only about 4-5 sq ft.

 

yes my 250w mh/hps grow room is 4.5x4.5x4.5 and i think im going to have to put cfl's in the corners probley 45w each or more there 3000Lum each so an extra 12000 lumens should be signifigent enough

 

You can get nice results with that space, but it's all about the execution especially with these factors. I'd go with a sea of green style grow, the plants containers sitting as closely as possible under the light, and go for either an immediate 12/12 or (better in your case with your space), a short veg period where you have the chance to train them a little, and expand your canopy. A sea of green won't be much of a sea with only 4 cola's, but if you make the absolute best use of your horizontal space, and provide adequate root space and growing environment, you should get a nice crop that will be satisfying.

If you can get 4 5 gallon containers right next to each other and train them to the maximum efficiency horizontally for an even canopy, I'd say 2 oz a plant is a fair estimate. You could get far more, or less, but I'm guessing conservative considering a lot of the yield increasing comes with experience with your space, strain, and grow conditions.

 

i have 2 sativa beg seed on week 3-4 veg i lst'd both, im just waiting to get 3 autos i ordered and im going to put them so i can harvest them all around the same time im going to veg the autos for 4-5 weeks then 12/12 all of them, i know the autos will still be done first thow, my plan after that is to buy a bunch of reg seeds maby ak and do a sog i think thats the best way to get the most yeild but im not sure.
