240 Watt CFL Grow Cabinet Setup

Discussion in 'Indoor Grow Journals' started by pikkerc, Oct 3, 2014.

  1. Hello GC it's pikkerc! I am on here for the first time after many failed atrempts to register lol.

Well, anyway. I have done 2 prior grows under fire and uncertain circumstances. NOWADAYS, I'm able to get ahold of more expensive items and got my hands on a 3ft 2in tall X 2 1/2 feet wide vanity dresser. :)

Right now I have painted the inside which a double coat of flat white paint, removed the back optional veneration flap, adjusted the hanger bar into holding 3 different light fixtures and wattage is as follows:

    (Middle fixture) 210 total watts.
    -2 40watt bulbs. Mixed
    -7 22watt bulbs. Spectrum

Left and right fixtures both have one 30 total watts together giving me 240 total watts.

I have 4 1 gallon pots already filled up to 2 and 1/2 inches below the rim for stretching and bending within the pot. I plan to let the stem stretch at first and then lover the lights.

I assume my 35 volt fan is doing the trick as my closet is never over 75 degrees. Anyway. I have 4 very nice Kush seeds in each pot and I have some other less potent bag seeds germinating. Here is my first day of sprout! Wish me well!

  6. Okay so I stopped by my local hardware store and picked up 140 more watts to give me a total of 280 watts now! I also picked up some more y splitters so here is the new pics.

And I gotta say. The pictures don't do justice to exactly how effing bright this cabinet really is when I open it up.

  8. I'm hoping so. I want to get them at least 2 feet tall this time. Last go around, all my plants vegetated, flowered and died within one month so I have no idea what that was. Stood about 6 inches high.

  9. Prob not enough light lol but now your grand :) flower 1/3 of the size you want the plant to be at harvest that what I was told anyway :)

  10. I Am so excited to get these puppies up and going. This time I finally have a house. Not in an apartment so I have the space i need to move around casually.

Does anyone have any idea if 21,800 lumens is enough for 6 female plants? 4 in 1 gallon pots, 2 in 1/2 gallon pots?

Anyway I have 21,800 lumens total at the moment.

  11. Quick update. I have moved the ventilation fan up here.

ImageUploadedByGrasscity Forum1412389364.675870.jpg (it is now on top of the closet attached to the bar)

I have also taken the liberty to clean and add 4 more available pots to the closet. 3 1/2 gallon pots (brown) and another 3/4 gallon standard orange flower pot.

I think this will be the new setup for now. I would like to experiment with some k seeds I have. I have a shotload of them and I assume they might give me some good stuff. So hopefully now, in the future the females will go in the bigger pots and males will ultimately be removed altogether.

Soil comes tomorrow. I also fully watered each black gallon pot. Here are a few seedling pictures. (4)

Here one of my old plants....126watts of cfl, 2x42watters for veg and 3x42wattera for flower.

I grew out a royal queen seeds northern lights and it yeilded 65grams ImageUploadedByGrasscity Forum1412419847.824703.jpg

You can yield a great amount with your amount of watts, but remember to keep cfls 2-3 inches from the top of the plant and IMO LST is a must when using cfls.

Btw your grow thread is in the wrong section...I will call a mod to move it :)
Only because you will get noticed more in the growing thread rather than the general section :)

@yoda @chunk can you move this thread?

Move them cfls down asap bro! Honestly your seedlings will Strech and fall over....
Also general rule of thumb is 100watts per plant, if I was you I would do 2 plants maybe 3 at a push in there :6

Feel free to drop by my thread at any time if you want help, there are MANY great growers in there, and they are allways keen to help :)

Also your pots will be too small....you ideally want 1 gallon of soil per month of growth.

  18. Yeah a move would be appreciated! And head chef, thank you for the info! So am I wrong in thinking the black pots are 1 gallon?

Also how does pot size affect sea of green?

    Tuckerjonesisreal

  19. I have never grown SOG since I think there is much more effective ways.

I go by a general rule of thumb, 1 galling worth of pot size for every month the plant will be alive.

    5litres ish = 1 gallon.
